autistic, queer, software engineer, mom, wife

I was using the definition that tree posted and hoping that MindCave would find friendship and a feeling of belonging.
Are you using cameraderie? Summoning extroverted backup? 😝 Because if you are lying/being untrue...

Edit: I've done some findings only a few days ago that defines both introverts and extroverts with the ability to summon God's sustenance. I can as Introvert, tree can as extrovert.

I'm Defenestrated. That's one life worth. I heard 1 life is worth a little more than 1 million dollar. So .. 1 million is not much. I've wasted years for God... but i trust God 😎

I was extremely lucky in my last job where my boss recognised my social anxiety and put me in my own private office and lab. No one was to disturb me without going through the boss. I was in heaven. This lasted for 8 years until I retired. My boss did that because he liked my "innovative" ideas and designs. The "innovation" however, was actually my autism.
That's tough

Hello & welcome @MindCave.

BTW, I have been a programmer before I retired. What is the difference between a programmer and a software engineer...?

I was a programmer in the beginning of my career for about 2 years before choosing a very different carrier trajectory. As far as I know, the difference between these categories is the salary level. Software engineers make much more money than programmers for the same work. I don't k ow what causes this disparity.

When did you realise the real reason he did that?

I'm not sure if innovation is connected to autism. I have met 2 innovative autistic individuals, but the other autistic people whom I met are average as far as their intellectual abilities go. I'm NT, some people say that I'm innovative but this is not always a good thing, once I lost my job due to my unorthodox ideas. Glad that you found a smart boss who appreciated you.

Forgive my curiosity, but would anyone explain me what is the difference between bisexuals and pansexuals?

I don't think he was actually innovative, the boss wanted to protect his employee because he recognised the social anxiety

I realized the "real" reason he did that when he did it. Rest assured it was not out of the goodness of his heart. He did not do it to be "nice". He did it because he runs a business, and businesses do what needs to be done to make money - revenue.

Many of the customers expressed that they liked my "unique" "innovations". He knew by observation that I cannot handle hardly any social contact, so he isolated me. Note: I was not the only engineer he did that with. But, I was sure happy about it.

Also, notice that I put the word "innovation" in quotes. That is because that was the word used by my boss and the customers.

I said it is because of my autism and I strongly believe that. Autism is considered Neurodiverse. I think that is quite well known. That does not mean brilliance or elevated intelligence or genius, it just means different. My designs were different - not traditional. I have a hard time understanding much of the traditional designs. My neurology is different, thus my understanding is different, thus my designs are different. I don't mean better or ingenious, just different. May of the other engineers scoffed at my designs. I was always having to prove them. However, more important, the customers loved them because they were different, and my boss recognized that. Customers are important. That is where the revenue comes from and that is what my boss knew.

I see, even so it's a pretty good boss to work under. Some would probably look for an excuse to hire a replacement

I had one amazing boss over my career he was an engineer. Working at Ford pick up assembly plant I would drive over to head office occasionally. sit in his office discuss stuff for hours. interesting guy he got promoted soon after. He just knew how to deal with people like us and I did not know I was different.

Yes, he was the best boss I ever had. He was friendly, but totally practical and logical. Not inhibited by ego. He would listen and would never dismiss out of opinion. Always open to new ideas.

And best of all - he got my sense of humor!

I guess my best boss liked me as I wrote a letter to him after a trade magazine article stating I'm your guy then he hired me told him next year this plant will have the best control he was responsible for 18 assembly plants. Once a week samples were taken from each treatment process tanks from each plant, My wife and I were at the christmas party. He came up to use an said here is the print out on all the processes, I had to do it twice i could not believe the results You have the best controlled process including the japanese ones. Why would he have doubted me I told him This would happen. I know what I'm capable of. Always up front Same with my final job told boss when I was done he would have the colour control in the industry, stunned all our customers. Changed company trajectory learned about printing now nobody know how I did it. It's called being on the spectrum. And having the ability to see the process in my minds eye visually and can just see the weak areas, just leave me alone let me do my stuff childs play. I know this skill is rare, only heard about others with this ability in books by reputation. Tesla with electricity for example. He could just see it.

Seeing zinc phosphating in me head was easy, noticed this when I worked at Inglis an appliance company not a typical chemical reaction easy for me to visualize same with gravure printing no experience once I visualized how it worked with various pigments could just see it just combined with my knowledge of colour control, So unless you can find somebody else with my ability duplicating it will be difficult. I have noticed I can visualize almost any process so being a engineering technologist was useful.
