Darth Binks is real.
We are diffrent. That, blanket statment even with the holes can be generally agreed upon. infact, to spare my tourture of writing on an ipad, i am just going to keep making generalisations.
We are joined together by our diffrence to others. here, it is normal to be diffrent. As a group, not just on this forum, but for all NDs, what is our role in society today? Most of the time, i hear people getting pushed around because of our diffrences, with the exception of a few who flourish at what they do.
From my general perception... of others peception, i see a lot of people only deffining us by the stuggles we have, but praise us when the lucky one or two rise above the rest.
that just leaves us normal, un-normal people deffined by only our struggles. The far majority of us do not fit the steryotypical 'sheldon' role.
Genius or sick. Generally, the two roles in wich the world precives us. Two words, to describe a whole population of unique individuals?
so, to get to my point. What would be our best place in society? as a group of individuals who both strive, and fall to the struggles of how we are born, what path can we as a group carve out for ourselfs in the future?
I dont want to be part of a group, that means conforming to how that group acts. i dont want to have others view me, and pitty me for being sick, but i do not want the title of genius as well.
having the title of 'autistic' seems to come with a lot of other titles, ones i dont want to take on. i am okay with being autstic, i am not okay with being sick, or even a genius.
people like to place others into a group. we can not escape that. When they continue to deffine us by the misconceptions of what little they know about being autstic, how can we steer the worlds thoughts to something more healthy for both NTs, and NDs? what would the end goal even look like?
