A teacher for children with autism has been awarded a British Empire Medal.

Mrs Pullinger 66 worked as a learning support assistant at Burford School in Marlow Bottom.

She said: "I was not expecting it at all. It was quite a shock.

"I have always found my job as a teaching assistant to be very rewarding. It is about making learning accessible to everyone and to help children with autism to be in main stream schools."

Mrs Pullinger will be awarded her medal formerly in Buckinghamshire and will be invited to Buckingham Palace in the summer for one of the garden parties.
