Hello everyone, long time since I posted.

I am waiting to here when I'm starting this autism group to help build confidence up.

Hi im kalten, Like you i have high functioning autism, (aspergers syndrome). How do you cope. I find it hard to communicate with others sometimes, I find i can socially fit in and adapt to small group discussions with associates, but when theres more than 3 people i tend to go all mute and try to avoid discussion as i get really anxious. i find i dont have as many friends as i once have, maybe thats down to ASD or the fact i suffer with depression and anxiety issues aswell. How do you react in social situations Wb .

I am the opposite, I am more comfortable talking to a group of 10 or 20 people than having a chat with 2 or 3 people. I guess that over the years I have developed more self confidence but the social skills required for informal social interaction are still lacking.

I went away for the weekend with my wife and her church choir (they are one of the top choirs in Indonesia and they were practicing for a TV appearance last Christmas). Her choir wanted to get me involved so someone brought the words and music for Waltzing Matilda and told my wife that they wanted me to teach them to sing it.

My wife, who is extremely gregarious and sociable, was mortified. She thinks I am shy and she thought that I would stand there and go mute, at best.

So I stood up, gave a talk on each verse before I sang it and explained what it meant, explained the funny words, made a few jokes, then sang each verse in a loud and clear voice. My wife was shocked, and her choir wanted to recruite me to sing with them.

I've also run courses at work off the top of my head, chaired meetings, etc, which often surprises colleagues who know that socially I tend to be withdrawn and appear painfully shy.

Hi kalten, I haven't been diagnosed with HFA imminent middle of low and high scale.

Any way I find socialising difficult I never talk in a group I am somewhat shy and not comfortable. I am able to talk 1-2-1 with people.

However I find communicating easier talking on msn and writing things down.

I don't feel like I can fit in the world . I feel picked on, hurt- physically, emotionally, sexually etc I feel I can never keep friends. I have a friend then loose them which makes me question who is my friend and I feel a failre,

I have autism, learning disability, bordeline Personality disorder, psychosis, paranoia, depression, claustraphobia
