Autism In The Family...

Hi guys

Seriously happy

('Serious?'/'Happy'?) lol

My 4.5 year old son was found to have moderate-severe Autism yesterday.

It was so obvious to them that they put their hand up and said, 'Don't tell us anymore, we can see.'

The psychologist & speech link worker both got on their phones after leaving my house, I watched them from my sitting room.

They had their heads bowed together.

They told me to my face before they left, that he was so obviously severe that they're taking him to the next step almost immediately... That a 3rd official party is going to be involved in a tick-that-box session in early September.

In fact, the Psychologist got into his own Boss and asked him to let my son 'skip the queue' as an urgent case.

He pushed the boundaries of a potential power struggle to get justice for my son.

Why?

Because he LISTENED.... he WATCHED, and he BELIEVED...

BECAUSE IT'S THE TRUTH.

at long last!

Hey @ems, I'm happy for you that your son has been treated as a priority. He and you, will now be able to access help and services and doors should be opened that were previously closed.

It's also so important that at last, someone listened to and believed you. When my daughter eventually received her diagnosis, my wife burst into tears. Once my wife began to compose herself, the psychologist started to say "lots of people with this diagnosis go on to have productive and fulfilling lives", my wife said "Oh no it's not that, I'm just so relieved that at last, after all this time, someone listened to me and believed me"
