Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month at work

My work is always looking for events to celebrate, so I submitted April as Autism Awareness/Acceptance month. I told them that the tech sector (where I work) usually has a decent number of people that fall on the spectrum.

Anyway, my idea was accepted. They'll be putting up posters and sending out facts about autism each week this (April) month.

Is there anything else that I can suggest to them to do (that doesn't cost anything) and doesn't involve Autism Speaks and that raises acceptance? I'm pointing them to ASAN, autisticadvocacy.org

Pointing then to ASAN is a good start. I would avoid the "Light it up blue" theme, since that is a trade mark of Autism Speaks.

Thanks. I agree! Definitely no "Light it Up Blue". It's so weird because Autism Speaks and Light It Up Blue is all that a lot of people know. It's hard to change that, but it can start by having Autism Acceptance Month rather than Autism Awareness month.
