Attempts To Obtain A Job

So even though I have been hoping to get a science job, most of my applications and such have actually been for other types of work so far. I tried to get a job at a couple of companies that make greeting cards and such. One was not far away and they really loved my photography and the hand done calligraphy and the way I would come up with poems that described the photos. They talked like they wanted me but then nothing came of it. The other one I had to mail a photo portfolio to and never heard anything back at all. I have asked small shops in the area, but since the herb shop I have not been able to get another such opportunity. I thought I might get on at one of the local florist shops. It sounded hopeful, but then they had to decrease the amount of employees and could not hire more. I tried for a backroom unloader job at a clothing store, but they told me that my past work experience was not similar enough or something along that line. Ironically, I worked at one company just short of 10 years and over half of that time backroom unloading was my primary job (it just wasn't clothing).🤷🏼‍♀️ I thought that the clothing would be less heavy lifting at least seeing as how my heart mummer had starting acting up more and more (especially when having to do heavy lifting or in extreme heat).

Just curious, what sort of "science job" are you looking for? And where have you applied for a science job?

Do you have a hospital near you? Hospitals have labs that need lab techs. That's a possible place to start.

Right now, I am mostly considering environmental testing (water samples, soil samples, ect.). That field seems to have some basic introductory level positions that don't require much of any higher education. I need a lot more education for my long term goal of forensic chemistry so I probably won't ever really get there.

The more I learn about you interest and aptitudes, the better direction I can give. Also The more i learn about you the more impressed I get.

Are there facilities nearby where you could apply?

I was trying to get an internship at the lab connected to the local water plant before. One of my previous jobs told them I wouldn't even pick up my own trash was what came back to me through the job coach or whatever they are called. Ironically, I had cleaned windows, swept, vacuumed, taken out trash, mopped, wiped counters, cleaned out microwaves, ect. at that job. They kept added cleaning tasks and the one I wouldn't do was clean the interior of the trash can. I'm not sure how that translated to not being willing to pick up behind myself. I only had that job about 3 weeks, but it seems to have ruined my job history.

You have a job coach? Are these through an employment agency or like a social services type of thing?

Did have - for over a year . I think getting my diagnosis was probably the only benefit of going through the program. Well, I did get to sample 3 different types of jobs for 2 hours each with some other organization they sent me to and I did get pay for those 6 hours total of work, but that second organization is also the one that I worked at for about 2 to 3 weeks that I talked about in my last comment.

The three jobs I was able to sample for two hours each were a library job, (the guy that was over the library at the time said I was very "adept" at library work and my other skills were good enough to make up for my lack of computer skills), a floral shop (I got to make an arrangement and it was fun to learn and I also swept up the trimmings from the plants), and a plant nursery (they basically just used me to get their area cleaned up from old fall leaves and trash but I tried to make the best of it and the lady from the organization that went with me and I had a fun little sycamore seed fight - like a snowball fight - the seeds were really soft and splattered on impact. That was the time that my career coach/counselor type person from the original organization got all distressed about not seeing "anger reactions". I still don't know why me not acting angry was a problem.

My highest scores on the end of year test during high school were in the sections dealing with languages. I made it into the top 1% (99th percentile before in a couple of those categories. I was above average in most subjects. My lowest scores were in mathematics. The various mathematics categories would come in within the average range. In separate testing later, pattern recognition was extremely high as well.
During childhood, I loved the outdoors including taking walks outside or dancing in the rain.I loved about anything to do with animals whether spending time around a real one or flipping through encyclopedias and such looking for pictures of them. I liked to take things apart to see how they were made (originally plant parts but later appliances as well). I also liked to do other experiments with things like water pressure and air pressure. I liked a lot of science videos especially ones about animals assuming no animals were harmed. I was fascinated by airplanes and would try to outrun them though for some reason, I never succeeded. 😅 I also have a recurring dream of learning to fly one day. I talked a lot when I was little. It made my mouth feel funny to make myself stay quiet too long. I wanted to share any new fascinating thing I learned with as many others as I could get to listen and had no problem asking questions if I thought someone might have answers to something. I did a lot of pretend play. I liked to pretend that my stuffed animals and dolls were real, that my bike and my swing were airplanes, ect. I loved to read adventure stories and then daydream about meeting the characters in real life. I liked to watch certain shows and daydream up my own stories based off of the characters or pretend to be the characters. As I got older I learned to mask as an extreme introvert to avoid trouble and started studying things like chemistry and physics to maintain my need to feel like even if no one likes me at least I was smart. The simpler biology based sciences are probably a better fit because the math parts in physics and chemistry really stress me out even though I like knowing the facts and being able to recite scientific laws. I feel like I need to be just as good at those too though. Meanwhile, somewhere along the line I picked up calligraphy and poetry and then later photography and ultimately learned how to combine them in projects. I like to learn about edible and medicinal plants. I have multiple books on this topic. I was teaching myself trick riding on my horse at one point but have not done it in quite some time. It was pretty exciting though. I like researching topics on my phone and in reference books. I have trouble watching video instructions without feeling restless unless I can be scrolling through comments or something while listening. I probably learn best with hands on learning. As a child (prior to becoming so timid and introverted/formal acting over my teen years) I was in children's choir, played a lamb in a Christmas pageant, and was a mime at Vacation Bible School one year. I kind of added some extra scenes for the lamb during the Christmas pageant.😅 I get fascinations with certain historical time eras that are recurring but kind of rotate around. There was a phase during my teens when I collected WW2 surplus uniforms. There were at least 2 or 3 phases where I used red construction paper to make my bicycle helmet resemble an ancient Roman helmet. I also liked to pretend to rescue people or to investigate something. I also have an obsession with trying to undo bad events in books or movies. In addition to my newly obtained Biowork Certificate, I also have a Locksmithing Diploma. Another thing I like to do is the balancing tricks that I have discussed on here before. I like to sing opera and have been told that I do it well, but nobody around me likes opera so I don't do it often. I come up with riddles, rhymes, and puns. I make random associations between things, for example, thinking that the texture of the ceiling looks like cottage cheese. Then I will go down some rabbit trail such as I wonder what it would be like if the roof was really made of cottage cheese. Would it stink. Would it draw mice. Then I might Google whether mice like cottage cheese and end up researching the life spans of wild mice vs mice in captivity. 🙄
