AS and Complex PTSD

Does anyone have experience with treatment for AS associated with complex PTSD (from systematic mistreatment over a long period and from very young)? Most therapists (rare anyway) deal with one or the other.

Many with the Sensory Processing Disorder aspect of ASD have PTSD. The usual therapist and medication route did not improve things for me. Flashbacks, triggers, and meltdowns-- oh, my!

T'ai chi helped me with the PTSD. It took about 4 months before I noticed that the flashbacks were diminishing. I have been doing t'ai chi daily for six years. Flashbacks are basically gone, and I avoid my triggers to the best of my ability. I feel pretty solid most days. The positives for t'ai chi are it's effectiveness, that it also becomes a right-now-remedy for anxiety, and that it helps heal and balance the entire being. It also has zero side effects.

Cannabis is the answer, hands down. If the person who introduced me to cannabis told me he was Jesus, I'd believe it.
Funny that you should say that. I can't smoke pot because of delicate lungs, but I have been trying Marinol on a trial basis. (This is medical marijuana, btw.) I sleep deeper and better, and I don't meltdown as easily to sudden loud noises. I don't intend to use it long term because I don't like the way it makes me feel, but until we move from our apartment I will have to use it.

I also have ASD and PTSD (both complex and normal varieties). My therapist isn't too keen on my ASD Dx, but when he uses methods that take neurodiversity into account, I respond so much better. He uses mindfulness, hypnosis, Aikido, and verbal processing to help me with both PTSD and ASD. I agree, Eastern medicine and methods are MUCH better at dealing with such things than Western approaches alone.

Oh, and the AS came first, but since it was undiagnosed for so long, and C-PTSD can mimic so many of the symptoms, my T says he'd Dx me more as ASD complicated by PTSD. Semantics, but makes a difference in the way things are handled.
