Anyone have any experiences of spiritual awakening and enlightenment?

I thought a thread might be interesting.

I have quite a few experiences , and I suspect they are coloured by autism.

Here's one;

I was trying to find the root of what "I" am.

I was doing a load of meditation, watching videos of enlightenment gurus and stuff. I had made some progress and suddenly I started getting headaches.

I really never get headaches at all, and these felt like there was huge pressure in my skull, especially in my temples and it felt like my head would explode they were that intense.

Almost not unpleasant though, but somewhat painful and this intense, constant pressure.

I did one search online to see if they could be connected with my spritual practice, and I found a video talking about kundalini and chakras and the build up and release of energy as people awaken.

The video pointed out that blocked chakras and awakening can result in energy getting stuck at a chakra point like the crown chakra at the head. And it happens when bodies are not ready for the spiritual experience they are going through.

Trouble was I didn't believe in chakras :)

I took it on board though and decided to do what felt natural.

It did feel like energy pressure, and it felt close to the surface of my temples, so I tried to pull it out with my fingers.

This worked, and I imagined I was pulling threads of power out of my skull and swooshing them away with my fingers.

This felt awesome, and the pressure declined and disappeared. It kept coming back for a few months, and when it did I did the same thing to releve it.

Eventually it stopped building up, and never happened again.

A very strange experience where the spiritual affected the material.

Since the nature of "consciousness" is still undefined by science, perhaps you had somehow accessed the "receptors" of cosmic awareness?
In the early days of Artificial Intelligence, it was thought that the human brain worked like a computer. I t simply stored data and processed it into information, then knowledge. Since then we have realized that the human brain does not have the storage capacity to store all the date needed by a child to learn and speak its native language, let alone engage in more complex thought processes. So this may indicate that the human brain is a lot like a radio. It accesses cosmic data using electrical frequencies and converts that data to information and knowledge.

Yes, I've thought about that before.

Very interesting idea.

Science has not yet found the seat of memory. There is no known part of the brain responsible for memory and we don't know what the mechanism is either. There are some theories of it being held in quantum super positions which would increase memory capacity to a huge extent.

But the idea of our brains being transmitters actually makes sense and solves some problems with current models. It explains for instance, near death experiences, which show a large amount of common experiences.

It also explains some paranormal claims too, as there is would be expected that we could feel what other feel at a distance if what we are is connected fundamentally at a higher level that the material.

Whatever the ultimate truth, it's clear to me we are not our brains, but something more fundamental.

My Proof of Heaven

Yes, I read his book.

Amazing account, and it's a must for anyone interested in what happens after we die - surely everyone?!

The first hand account of a sceptical neurosurgeon who had a first hand experience of near death, and witnessed heaven, and talked to God.
