The last two, BF V & BF 2042 almost destroyed the franchise, but Battlefield 6 looks like a winner.

I have EA's Battlefield 1942 (2002) that was given to me as a gift, but I never installed it. Guessing it wouldn't play particularly well on anything beyond Windows XP.

(My legacy computer running that OS is totally cut off from the Internet.)

Ironically the only computer game I've ever thought about playing against others these days was "Diplomacy". The kind of game best played against strangers rather than friends, given the Machiavellian nature of the game. Though in that vain alone it probably amounts to bad mental health...lol. As a teenager I played the board game version a number of times against my sibling and his friends. Oops.

So apparently there's an open beta going on for this game right now, and while I was having a meal I watched someone playing it.

...And it looks utterly incomprehensible to me.

Like there's just a million dudes running all over the map, sometimes someone drops a Mystery Box which does something, lots of falling over dead, all these different sections to the map... and then like a loadout or something with a whole ton of guns that seriously all look the same to me. Like the guy playing it is going over the pros and cons of them and I'm looking at them like "yep, that's definitely a gun, probably shoots bullets if you pull the thingy there, or maybe it doesnt I dunno"

I havent really actually seen a multiplayer FPS in like a zillion years... is this what they're like?

I remember (again) why I dont play this genre. Too confusing. Like just give me an axe instead and point out something I should charge at and that's the extent of the tactics I can handle in a first-person game.

It is exquisite chaos, yes.

Yes, bullets come out of the pointy end.
But have no fear, you have infinite lives.

This game needs a high level PC computer, and newer consoles.
The graphics are EPIC!!!

My reflexes are subpar, but I work with my limitations.
Rather than twitch muscle abilities, I use my cognitive/intellectual strengths.

I never aim to be the MVP.
My focus is on surviving the battle.
That seems to upset some ppl, for some reason.
I really don't care.
