I love touhou a lot! If you do too, maybe we can be friends!
I don't want to be your friend if you're: a gooner, too old (30+), too young (below 18), problematic, is very weird with the characters. AND IF U HATE REIMU X MARISA I ALREADY DONT LIKE YOU SMH

I've played them plenty, but I'm mostly in it for the bullet-hell elements. The shmup genre as a whole.

As for the actual characters, never exactly knew much about them. Like I can recognize a few names... sort of... but that's about it.

Honestly I always found it a bit odd. Shmups in general used to be like, weird ships blasting off to fight the evil Bydo Empire and whatnot. Not sure when it suddenly became like, random girls flying through the sky for some reason.

They can be good games but they're definitely not my favorite of the genre overall. To each their own though, I guess.

I am aware that there are Touhou games now that arent shmups, but I've never seen/played any of those.

Yeah I understand. I've met a lot of danmaku fans that are that way. I do love danmaku, theres actually this really unique bullethell x rhythm game on the appstore called Nois SL. I love it to death. I'm pretty bad at shoot em ups ironically enough LMFAOO. BUT IDK, I LOVE THE CHARACTERS. Often times shmup plotlines are a little generic and the characters (If any) aren't really memorable nor iconic. And I just love the indepth world building of gensokyo. Constantly scrolling wikis, learning lore, is honestly like researching a whole new dimension. Obviously, I have some biases. The plot of the games aren't REALLY something to write home about but it's all good fun and the music completely rocks!
