A couple of months ago I bought a water and fire proof safe to store important papers, etc.
I purchased it from Staples.
About a month later, they key broke off in the lock. I called the company, Honeywell, to ask what to do. I was told this was covered under warranty and I had to send in documents and they would send out a new one.
A month later, nothing has arrived. I email Honeywell and am told the safe is back ordered and won’t be available until sometime in July.
I pondered this for a few days. I decided to call Staples. Their warranty is only 14 days, but at least I could, find, out if the product is really “backordered.”
I explained the situation to Staples customer service. They offered to replace the safe, for free, which they have in stock, even though it is outside their warranty period. It is coming tomorrow. They are also sending a shipping label so I can return the nonfunctional one free of charge.
I have never seen a company step up so quickly to solve a problem that wasn’t even their responsibility.
So. Go Staples.
