AI-Generated Porn...!

There is a [new?] trend in AI-generated porn. Pornographers are capturing images of faces from public sources, like social media & school yearbooks, and superimposing them into said porn. It is happening to both adult & child victims without their knowledge or consent.

It is another good reason to not use your real image online, if possible.

Yes - this is a truly horrible thing.

AI needs to be regulated.

From what I understand, they've moved beyond that... creating original avatars, not using real images. Obviously, there can be legal repercussions for using real human images stripped from the internet... the ones the industry would rather avoid, if possible. Some AI systems can simply create the avatars without this... it's on YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, etc. right now. Furthermore, soon, there is work on creating the physical sensations on the skin, the scents, etc. You can be anyone or anything and interact with anyone or anything. It gets pretty wild... the human imagination and innovation at work. A multi-billion dollar industry.

There was a Bruce Willis movie years ago about something quite similar, called Surrogates (2009). Surrogates (2009) ⭐ 6.3 | Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller

AI is not the problem. AI is merely a tool that, among many other things, can be used also to illegal activities. The real problem is that someone actually takes a picture of someone without a permission and uses that as a source material for a pornographic content. That has been done even before AI.

So when one has a tool that can be used to do something horrible and life destroying, what does one do to keep that tool from being used for that purpose?

Another issue I have come to realize about AI is when a content-creator openly states with text that their presentation involves AI-generated imagery. Giving an impression of honesty based on a hopelessly dishonest premise. Or what author George Orwell referred to as "doublethink".

Particularly when they use celebrity or very important persons in society to spew false impressions or speeches. That in a very short time everything we see and hear will be suspect as propaganda rather than as truth.

A win for authoritarianism leading a path to totalitarianism and on a global scale.

If one has a real and legitimate message for the public, it should have NO AI involved in whole or in part. -DUH!

Note: As for any AI generated imagery of the human body, your first hint is to examine the image for skin texture. In most AI images of that nature, expect to notice the skin surface looking more like plastic than human skin.

Depends on if the AI was trained using ethically sourced content. Doubt there is such a beast.

Which defeats the whole existence of AI itself. And why it should be prohibited in terms of creating images or voices. Another classic case where scientists were too absorbed in attempting to create something rather than ponder whether they should even try.

Another "cat out of humanity's bag" that will cause more problems than create solutions.

I am not opposed to AI created using ethically sourced training data. But I also believe that all AI content must automatically be public domain, no possibility of creating profit. Any associated material also becomes public domain. Apologies if my logic is not sound, brain fog from bad flu.

Hopelessly inadequate given considerations of profit are confined only to avarice and capitalism.

Such limitations won't address the prospects of criminal intent in terms of deliberately formulated malice or worse, vandalism pointed in no particular direction.

Ironically I also see such technology giving one particular group a whole lot of traction- anarchists.

Which all boils down to AI being another example of what we call "Putting lipstick on a pig".

I admit that for the past four months, I’ve been using AI generators for non kid friendly stuff but it’s all stories. There’s this site that has some user created bots to start the story off and one of them is about three guys that apparently hunt people down like animals for their sick pleasure so I keep writing stories that turns the tables on them as punishment for their crimes. Usually it involves them being locked up in a mental institution as birds and bird imagery torment and taunt them into acting out and they must be subdued with sedatives but I’ve also did a story where it turns out that I’m a Predator snd I hunt them down and they freak out completely when I remove my human disguise because they know that they are now royally screwed and can’t save themselves. And then I added in a Xenomorph which made the story even more interesting. Another story I had them think that a guard on a military base was their target and they attack him only to find out that they’ve made a huge mistake and no one believes them when they claim a tiny sparrow is tormenting them and made them attack the guard and there’s even a guy in the mental institution who believes that kitchen appliances are plotting to overthrow humanity and even he makes fun of the three men for how ridiculous their story is.

There are people who don't have a voice that AI could give them. You'd deny them a blessing because of your own fear of the technology?

Absolutely. In this instance recalling the logic and basic tenet of utilitarianism.

"The greatest good for the greatest number" - Jeremy Bentham.

I just don't see AI as a bona fide promise or guarantee of perfection. Only the illusion of it.

My personal "favorite" of such dishonest premises is "this is just a parody"-defense used by the porn industry to explain outright exploitation of intellectual property that they have no rights to. Dark side of the "fair use"-principle that is.

Also, all kind of slandering, personal attacking, insulting, trolling etc. is often morally justified by saying "I was only joking" when it starts to backlash. While I agree that people should have thick hides and be able to tolerate criticism and (mild) adversity as part of ordinary living, it still don't change the fact that such "joking" can be used to really, really malevolent purposes with loads of unjustified damage.

"Absolutely" is rather unconditional certainty of the future with a lot of moving part that you can't have an absolute knowledge of. I mean that I can't help of thinking that similar certainty based on not seeing benefits ended up being rather embarrassing to Luddites, as in the long run the working class quality of life actually increased, despite that in the short term Luddites were right about the initial turmoil.

But yes... I see a lot of benefits in AI, but I also do agree that AI can and probably will have as extreme uses as nuclear fission has, with an added risk of some serious software bugs. I just don't agree that risks and benefits can be quantitatively assessed yet.

Edit: Hmm... That was more nit-picking from me than I intended. Would have edited a little bit but Judge answered to it before that.

In a nebulous sense I want to agree. Except that in this particular instance it ultimately will depend on whether or not AI can genuinely surpass the limitation of "garbage in, garbage out". Which so far seems little more than an improved yet flawed search engine and not much more.

Plus I don't have such an optimistic view of mankind on a broad spectrum. Noting any number of technological achievements that have hurt humanity more than have necessarily helped it. In this sense it's bit more a case of hindsight I see allowing me to express unconditional certainty. When the technology may improve, but not that segment of humanity who chooses to abuse it.

But yes, we will see what transpires when time will tell one way or another.

What concerns me most is the possibility that this amounts to a pyramid scheme based on too many investors seeking to make a killing on the market with corporations coveting the equity on their balance sheets. That it may be a tower of cards just waiting to topple, taking down the stock indices with them. When prolonged hype exceeds what the actual product is truly capable of.

Although if it is in a public area, one can take pictures of people. You can be on a sidewalk and take pictures of people on their own property- in the US anyways.
Virtually all AI images I've seen are of comic book, movie, and gaming characters. Usually in a cartoon style of illustration. One can look up Cinderella, and find her in all sorts of humorous and unlikely situations!
There obviously are 'deepfakes' and such. Quite often on FB there are memes of fake quotes attributed to famous people.
