After shutting down

Not sure if I have shut-downs as such but after a panic attack or meltdown, I can perk up again rather quickly. My ADHD brain jumps from one thing to another, so say if I have a meltdown at work I can be chatty again in about half an hour. It makes it easier when others try to move on from the drama and chat to me, I'll talk about my feelings and why I had a meltdown, I might even apologise for acting like an ape, then I start forgetting about it if I'm surrounded by the right people.

Completely disoriented for a bit. When I can't even account for the time between then and when I first went into a shutdown. Lucky for me that shutdowns at this point of my life rarely happen.

How did you get to the point that you rarely shut down?

Good question.

If I had to guess, I'd say having a diminished amount of stress associated with retirement. Knowing my life is not particularly complex compared to my working past.

But Christmas can bring about such things...the holiday rush of too many people at times. A simple explanation of the last two shutdowns I had.

Whenever I crawled inside myself, as I like to refer to it, I always had a bit of dissociation alongside it. That bit natters at me, which over time has allowed me to break out of those emotional sinkholes more readily, and with less fallout to sort later.

Unfortunately, they still happen and I would rather they not; but, I have developed strategies to cope.
