A renewed look at the world wide web

I don't what that is, how does it compare to C++ or any of the other base languages? Is it simpler?
I don't really know how to describe it except that it is a server framework for building internet-enabled applications. Node.js is roughly an applications server, much like Apache Tomcat which powers Java-enabled server applications. Node.js is language for developing server and client internet-enabled applications.
