  • In an effort to filter out some of the doom and gloom in the media I have been making my own 80s/90s TV simulator. Its just using some code someone else made but it has 4 Channels and is transmitted in old fashioned analogue with authentic static and commercials! I'm very much enjoying it! It feels like I've gone back in time! 😸

I like Time Team 🙂 I also noticed some Antiques Roadshow episodes on YouTube I thought about downloading for my TV simulator but I haven't yet. Having a good variety of shows I think is going to be important. I need to create a certain amount of scheduling that encourages passive viewing :-)

This is such an awesome idea. I saw a guy doing the same thing on a Youtube video some time ago and it seemed like a lot of fun!

I saw it on YouTube too! I had a similar idea but I was going to use Kodi and use a script to rotate different playlists. There's a couple of videos covering ways to do this. One is super simple and I'm using that for now. The other is pretty complicated but more convincing and I'm going to migrate to that soon :-)
My dad decided to buy a second car. He was a bit concerned that it seemed a bit lacking in power and couldn't make it up hills, so he asked me to check it. After looking at a couple of things I decided to check the air filter, and when I opened it there was enough corn kernels in there to supply an entire movie theater with pop corn and a very badly damaged filter! 😸

I figured it was likely a mouse had crawled in there. I checked as much of the wiring as I could and it seems fine as everything is working as it should. As whimsical as it would be to have a car that shoots plooms of popcorn out of the exhaust, I'm glad I found the problem before any real damage occurred :-)

Is it a Hyundai-made car (Hyundai and Kia nameplates)? Hyundai is notorious for not putting covers over the entry points to the engine and cabin air filters, and rodents LOVE to crawl up in there and make happy homes. In many Hyundai cars the cabin air filter is behind the glove box compartment. Check that too. My uncle had to put mesh over the openings in my Kia Soul.

And yeah check the wiring, in many cars, not just Hyundais, the wire insulation is made out of soybean based plastic so the companies can get climate regulator brownie points, and rodents love to munch on it. I've read of many cases where the rodents eat pretty much the entire wiring harness, and the insurance company totals the car.
Treacle Kitten has had a busy day. She went all the way to the vets on a train and all the way back home too! She was a very, very well behaved kitty! Lots of people thought she was the cutest. She has an ulcer on her lip which might be due to teething but the vet is running some tests. Hopefully its just irritation due to her new teeth :-)
It's been a busy evening. My dad found a badly injured young seagul outside and we had to catch it and eventually found somewhere to take it - the same vet I take my kitten to. Its quite a long drive so its taken ages. Sadly I don't think there's much they can do for the poor thing😟
Yay! My Immich photo server is working again! Turns out that a certain kitten of mine had chewed through a USB cable I had absent mindedly left connected and it was causing it to crash! 😸

I was thinking with such sentiments just the other day while looking at the Asus motherboard manual for my legacy computer. A quarter inch thick booklet that looked about 75 pages on very thin paper. So complete and concise...sadly something of the past but not the present. Now it's just a brief .PDF file at best.

I've been trying to use a project called Motioneye/MotioneyeOS since 2017 to set up a security camera system. Back in 2017 it worked pretty well. But after a few updates its just totally utter rubbish. It simply doesn't work no matter what hardware or OS I use. Yet its still out there with the same bugs nearly a decade later!

This reminds me of the scene in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation where the cat eats the cord feeding the Christmas lights and all that is left of him in the end is a cat shaped burn mark on the carpet.
Treacle Kitten's surgical wound has completely healed now so I've been able to remove her recovery vest. She's much happier now and is enjoying giving herself a nice bath 😸

I finally found the willpower to check how my car is doing and start to fix it up again with a bit of luck :-) Fortunately all the bits I fixed before I got unwell are all nice and shiny and strong, sadly the sills along the bottom of the car are badly corroded. Fortunately I can fix that but it will be challenging.
I've managed to get quite busy today! I assembled the storage unit for under the bed. I've done laundry and hoovered out the accumulated fluff finally in the dryer 😸 Hopefully I will get more done tomorrow too fingers crossed! :-)
Today has been a very tiring day for Treacle Kitten. She has been to the vets to be neutered, she's doing well but she's struggling to get used to the vest she has to wear. While she looks adorable wearing it, I couldn't get a good photo and I dont want to try her patience too much.

I hate brain fog 😔 I'm not sure if its worse today maybe because the flu I had still is affecting my ears and its making me feel dizzy. I've got try and get some things done and it's very distracting and frustrating 😟

Go easy on yourself if you can. You won't be very productive if you are still recovering and your energy might be better spent continuing to heal.

I think you are right @Rodafina :-) I managed to get a couple of things done, mostly mopping the kitchen and packing up the faulty new microwave to return. It feels like quite an achievement. I think I'm definitely going to do as little as possible for the rest of the day 🙂
Yay! Flu almost gone at long last, though I still can't hear properly 😿 I've had no sleep but I finally started deep cleaning the kitchen, its been on the list since we moved in. Its progress but I have to be careful not to over do things.
I'm watching some Star Trek TNG VHS tapes I just got to take my mind off flu. I found them online, it looked like maybe 10 tapes in a cardboard box but its more like 30 lol! Only £3. Plenty to keep me occupied and I'm finding the old VHS aesthetic quite comforting :-)

I still have some of my old anime VHS tapes, and I still watch them on occasion.

That's cool @Metalhead :-) A lot of anime, I've heard has never been released beyond VHS versions so I know there are some shows etc that are highly sought after by collectors. I really regret getting rid of my old VHS tapes, but to be fair, at the time I just didn't have space 😿

One thing that I do find jarring about the PAL region versions of Star Trek TNG, is that everyone sounds like they have been inhaling helium! But that's just extra authenticity and my sensitivity to sound! 😸
This flu or whatever it is, is horrible :-( It seems to affect peoples ears. My dad had it and his ear drum ruptured and had to got to the hospital. He still hasn't fully recovered so I'm probably going to have this for a week or two yet 😿 My right ear has been whistling for days now 🤒

She does! 😻 The problem seems to be that she gets some on her nose and sneezes, which is cute too but it puts her off. She's still just a tiny mini cat though so maybe as she gets bigger it will be less of a problem :-)

She is lucky to have a caring human taking care of her.
I have flu, or something similar 🤧 I'm feeling rather exhausted 🙁 Its that kind of flu where you can't focus on anything and I was really looking forward to start building my Ghostbusters Lego this weekend. I hope everyone stays well and free of flu! 🙂
I figured out how to get XBOX game pass to stream games well on my Switch Lite 😀 I had to enable performance mode, I still have to remap the buttons but I did manage to play South of Midnight ok for a while, so once I fix the controller settings I think I should have a nice portable gaming device and actually play some games for once 😄
Treacle Kitten has been to the vets today and they are 95℅ sure that Treacle is a girl cat. They also said that she is very pretty! She's had all her injections and is doing great but she hated the injection today and seems to be very happy to be back at home.

    I don't blame her. I don't like shots either.

I don't either! And there was quite a lot of fluid in the shot too! I couldn't believe there was so much for such a tiny kitten! 🥺
