    The temps are fluctuating madly and alternate between too cold, and then too warm for a good maple flow. After boiling, I have barely a quart so far.

    If I had money to invest, I'd bet on a scarcity of maple syrup in the near future.

    Temperatures are back up again, so the maples are dripping.

    Temps look good for the next week, so I'm thinking that will be the main maple juice flow.

    Temperatures have been up & down, but I've now collected enough maple tree juice to start boiling.

    Currently, because it's well below freezing outside, the tree juice is in the form of ice. Two 5 gal. buckets of ice.

    My S.O. has started watching videos of people sitting quietly in chairs while pets needing homes wander around until the animal (dog or cat) picks them.

    These videos are very annoying because after 2 minutes they cause my eyes to leak water, and I can't stop looking because people get so happy when the cat jumps on them.

    Ah reminds me of the cat cafes. There you aren't allowed to pick up cats, you have to sit down and hope that they will come grace you with their presence. And then you can snicker with victory at everyone else who wasn't chosen by cats mhehehe

    There are about 8 squirrels (hard to count squirrels in a gob) that race out of the forest directly to the peanuts I put out on the deck every morning. They take the exact same route every time. There's now a rut in the snow 8 inches deep between two trees that weren't close enough to jump between.

    No, you wouldn't be jealous, you'd be thinking maybe you didn't have it so bad. Those temperatures are in the high 90s and over 100 in your money.

    Oh my. I wilt at temperatures over 75 F.

    If it's cold one can always layer more, but there is a limit to how naked one can get when it's hot.

    If it's just a little domestic pig, he's just a baby. They're much like dogs, really. Lil sweeties. I like piggies. Hogs on the other hand can be scary. But not always. Do the neighbor a favor, leash him up, and haul him home. You can then speak directly to the neighbor about the situation.

    I have spoken to him about his livestock roaming my land in the past. Many times. He screams and throws tantrums. I do not speak to him any more.

    It's Saturday morning. Furnace not working again. Just had a guy out yesterday to fix it. I imagine now I'll have to pay emergency rates for repair.

    Yeah, same guy. I figure best chance of getting a discount is to go back to the same people - have used them in the past, generally reliable, sometimes stuff happens, though.

    The last snowblower I had wasn't up to local conditions. This one is. Like a walk in the park.

    We're geared up for snow here. The people with snowmobiles are going to be delighted. We haven't had reliable good snow for snow sports in several years.

    Australia has a small alpine region, about the same size as Switzerland, and that only has snow for 3 months of the year. It attracts a lot of tourists though. Note that the trees in the videos still all have leaves on them, none of our native trees are deciduous.

    I thought the "four finger skipped placement" would be way hard, but it only took a day to get a handle on it.

    I enjoy playing the harp too. I have a zither. I'm not the best at it, but I can play simple songs. I think the harp is the most beautiful instrument in the world. Such peaceful sounds that come up from the strings. Calmer than windchimes.

    I love zithers and autoharps as well.

    The next instrument I build, after I finish the tagelharpas I'm building, will be a small kantele - a 6-12 string psaltery. Modern kanteles, larger with many more strings, are essentially zithers.

    I'm on the last page of How to Play the Harp Beautifully, book 1. There are two more books, so I guess that means I can now play the harp 1/3 beautifully.

    Because this last thing is putting 4 fingers on the strings, with one string between each finger, landing on all strings at the same time. This bit is gonna take a lot of practice. It's the last page...

    However, braver souls than I put videos on YouTube where they show monthly skill increases. I'm about on track for 1 year.

    Celebrating the "Let's Make a Forest in the House for the Cats Day" by bringing all the indoor plants back indoors.

    I don't think this is a commonly celebrated holiday for most people.

    My daughter gave me a tiny aloe from her mother plant. That one is now about 1 1/2 feet round and throwing 8 inch babies. I brought in a brugmansia tree, and I'll report 2 Chicago fig trees and bring them in next week.
