    Canned Food

I agree. I use very little canned food. And then, only as a backup. I only eat fresh or frozen food. Anything else has been f$@&k$d with. Stay out of the middle aisles of the grocery stores. Only buy stuff from the perimeter. That's where the healthy food is.

Has anyone turned their interest/ obsession into a business?

Epath13, I agree there's more to a business than the product. I am in no way a businessman. That area will be my greatest weakness and my biggest irritation. I hate all that business/marketing/taxes crap. I am going to try to keep it very low key and simple. Maybe it will be successful, maybe it...

Ah, I USED to carry a gun fer a livin'. I don't anymore. I quit doing all that Oorah stuff! Now I'm just a peaceful , gentle woodsman. ;). I was a Marine/Sheriff's deputy/Doe security police officer/ IRS security officer/ private security officer. I should have been an artist or engineer or...

    Do you prefer Night? Darkness?

I grew up being a night owl. My mother was also. She was an artist, so we would stay up all night doing various arts/crafts. We wouldn't realize it until the Sun came up. Later, as an adult, I worked security at nights mostly because I like the quietness and I didn't have to deal with people as...

    Learning on your own

I agree, I have taught myself many things without going to school. Growing up, I learned through books. Now we have the greatest library on earth, the Internet! Though I have reservations about big brother and privacy issues, the Internet is a great tool. Of course, nowdays we have...

    Chess, Draughts, Othello & Go

I love chess! I played in tournaments when I was in my 30's. I love the excitement of competition. It got a point that there was so much studying on opening lines, tactics, strategy, etc. that I just got burned out. I still play on my chess computer. Seems like not many people play chess anymore...

Has anyone turned their interest/ obsession into a business?

My interest is primitive survival skills and edible/medicinal/useful wild plants. I don't feel that I have the expertise to teach yet. But the next 2 months I will spend quite of bit time in the bush to learn more plants and practice my skills. I need to take more classes also. I'm enjoying the...

Has anyone turned their interest/ obsession into a business?

My long term goal is to turn my interest in primitive survival skills and edible/ medicinal/ useful wild plants into a way of making money teaching classes. The way I figure it, if I have to deal with people, at least they will have a common interest. I have carried a gun for a living most of my...

    Hello all, new guy here.

I'm a 48 yo man who recently self-diagnosed with AS. It seems my ex had my 14 yo daughter clinically diagnosed with AS. Huh? Never heard of it. So, upon doing some online research on her condition, I felt like I was reading my biography! Then, I took some online Aspie quizzes and they confirmed...

    What are your current obsessions?

My obsession is primitive survival skills and edible/medicinal/useful wild plants. It's been an interest since I was in junior high, but they're weren't as many resources for learning back then. I use books and DVD's to learn with now. To test my knowledge, I foraged foraged for a month and...

Do you keep track of lists?

Oh yeah! I've kept lists since I was a kid. My dad always stressed keeping a list so you don't forget and to insure reliability. Good thing too. I've had jobs where my to-do list was 2 pages of legal paper. Now I put my lists on my iphone with a paper list backup.

    Do you read?

The last books I read: "Wild Edible Plants" by John Kallas,PhD and " the Quickening" by Stuart Wilde. Interesting stuff. I actually went out and identified enough wild plants around my neighborhood that I foraged for a month without buying produce. It was cool. The quickening is about thinking...
