Question if what I am having delusion of grandeur

I thought you had been trying on plastic crowns in the novelty section and someone had remarked there's a person with a sense of humour. I actually was at a shop where the till lady said I had OCD because of the way I had been checking out labels and am slow generally (it wasn't crowded so I...

    Wrong switching and right owning

Some big bodies either: - devalued our attributes to the level of "disorder", or - denied us what attributes we value in ourselves because we adjusted well I've known some that were more respectful than that, however. I can't sing soul or play jazz, but I know how to love what I hear. To...

I have a heart full of hate.

I know what you mean. What I try to do then is, I imagine what (about me) is in his visual field, and for how long. If I conclude that it doesn't make sufficent sense for him as a human being, he must be losing out more than I am. Every time, it's ourselves we let off the hook, either of...

I have a heart full of hate.

When someone stops making an excuse that didn't look good enough, they may be saying something by saying nothing (e.g stop putting her foot in mouth). Yes, that still leaves us with the work of making our own space good. My mate accused me of intimidating our circle (a silly but weighty...

The man behind ex-gay “conversion therapy” started out trying to make autistic children “normal”

That's so interesting and useful and tragic. Important observations: 1 - [ TRIGGER WARNING ] it's vital to get away from seeing "need" for EITHER hurtful attempts at manipulation OR surgery (when latter is not strongly appropriate); those should not be seen as either-or. 2 - I came across an...

    Living Alone

I'm 67 and single and lived alone since 25 with a short spell before, and except short spells house sharing since (long ago). I feel traumatised by the bad politics and have watched videos of young musicians and feel traumatised by what was done to some of them. The institutions are being...

    Calling out questionable behavior

You've still done this person a favour already, because she can learn from mulling over the episode in her own time. I don't like to recall I was rather a dullard in my 30s.

People don't like me not putting them in a box

I always had my identity and that didn't change when I found out about my SpLDs. I put in an effort at things and most others show they feel threatened by that. For me, pigeon holes are different from identity and I am at ease in a group where others don't try to pigeon hole themselves. I find...

People don't like me not putting them in a box

Your need is more than reptilian, it is noble. Most people rush into everything and don't notice they have been demeaned. This can happen to people with ASC who try to "fit in", it happened to me for periods on and off. But I always felt everyone else was unique and they don't seem to want to be.

People don't like me not putting them in a box

Lovely! I used to have the one on the top right (from a second hand shop). Now I've got some sets of pull-out blue ones which at Lidl were one-tenth the price of what they cost at mainsteam office suppliers. I learned the hard way to organise things. Go up the walls to save going up the wall!

People don't like me not putting them in a box

I don't, that's part of my point. But the crucial part of it is that other people - and this is cultural more than diagnosis-related - seem to resent not being dealt with automatically according to a status that I can't see: I only see them as them.

    Calling out questionable behavior

There are of course times to bring up more instances at once. And people to just avoid. Maybe someone else will help them. Maybe they will be more self assured in 20 years (if there's peace in the world that long). I meant the first part of my comment more importantly.

People don't like me not putting them in a box

Offices used to have rows and columns of open fronted boxes like the ones pigeons fly in & out of, for categorising paperwork. Postal delivery offices still have them. Another metaphor would be, people don't like me not recognising their ball park (as a person - I'm not discussing actions we...

    Losing My Religion

The word: is a job title. How each of us applies it depends on the parameters of teachings we've each received, and on our relationship. Obviously the dinner partners have to try to speak for themselves better, but I've come across those types. Just to pick a trinitarian example how many...
