Is it crazy to not want to see a therapist?

King/others.. are there other ways to seek out without doing something like seeing a therapist? Seems like most people had somewhere between useless to negative experiences..

Is it crazy to not want to see a therapist?

I don't want to be a socialite lol I couldn't imagine having to deal with ppl all the time! I'm just talking about even once in awhile.. Lately almost any interaction has been overwhelming. I hear you though.. Maybe I would benefit if I told someone so they knew they could help me. Previously...

Long time since i posted here.. quick backdrop : I was diagnosed with autism when i was 3 (28 now), it was changed to pdd-nos shortly thereafter when they realized I didn't have a low IQ I spent several years in speech therapy, occupational therapy, reg therapy.. but then when i was 9 or 10...

Would aspies be interested in a companion doll?

Have you ever seen the movie Lars and the Real Girl? That movie describes the very notion your talking about, except imagining if the neighborhood acted as though the doll were a real person. Only difference is in the movie it was a hetero relationship

    Unusually bothered by people's differences

You realize that ppl who routinely use force and threats to make others believe in their own ideological beliefs are essentially terrorists correct? Your choices are dangerous and what you are letting bubble inside you is going to boil over as serious harm to yourself or others. I think it is...

Do You Hide Your Intelligence When You Meet "Normal" People?

Ha yea I've gotten that as well from ppl that don't know me well. I remember a year ago i was at a social work function and the secretaries told me that my superiors thought I was a "secret genius" because when they talk to me they think I'm slow but my work output indicates the total opposite...

Do You Hide Your Intelligence When You Meet "Normal" People?

I think its important to recognize A) what your talking about B) who your talking to. If I'm talking to someone about a subject I'm far more knowledgeable then them on but also is trivial in the long runI won't see the point in arguing with them and will just nod and agree. I don't think you can...

Moving to Florida kind of nervous

Hello.. been awhile since I posted anything on here. I am going to be moving to Florida to a city I've never been to (only went to Universal Studios when I was a kid as far as being in Florida is concerned). Everywhere I've gone I've never felt to far from home never lived outside the northeast...

The (official?) AS online social support for mainly concrete endeavours . . . thread.

I want to take the GMAT exam (a standardized test that is part of qualifying for an MBA program) but I keep putting it off because the test is $500 and I don't want to get a bad grade and I never study enough. I want to do it before something comes up in my life that makes it impossible to spend...

    Calculating the environment

I do this alot too.. especially what you described Vanilla I always give the room a ton of looks and figure out the best spot to be in based on what I want out of being there (watch the tv, talk with others, easy way to leave, etc etc infinite etc sometimes). I find that I build a life routine...

Psych community not taking me seriously!

I'm no doctor, so take this for just an opinion.. but Schizoid Personality Disorder is a real thing as well. Maybe just raise your concerns with your therapist and ask them to explain the differences and really where the diagnosis was born from

    eye contact and cultures

yea people often will ask me where I'm looking when I'm speaking.. I've kind of learned to make eye contact but it always makes me uneasy and I can't hold it for long though which makes ppl think I'm nervous or lying for some reason.. very frustating to say the least lol

The boy whose brain could unlock autism

Ste I actually did read the whole article. I saw that in a very literal sense they meant that certain cells could have more activity, possibly double what a normal persons was, which was why autistic persons could get overloaded by things that other people don't. However I'm unsure that I agree...
