    Hello!

Welcome. With many things the first part/stage is the hardest. I think that can be true when you first realize you are on the spectrum. But on the other hand many things can begin to make more sense and be clearer. It takes time. As an analogy it is as if you were issued a standard tool kit...

What song are you listening to right now?

My favorite Greg Kihn song (1977). Breakup Song is very good too.

    Hello and intro

Actually not sure what menstruation is, but I have a feeling it does not involve men. BTW we are primarily a community of people on the spectrum, not mental health professionals, etc. But all are welcome and we do have NT members who just can relate in one way or another.

    My Family is Messy

It's pretty futile to change people's habits and tendencies especially when they are defensive about it. One approach is to make your own bubble of orderliness within the house of clutter. Another is to simply accept the extra work needed to have clean things when you need them. Its not...

Some more paintings I did when I was young

I like the landscapes and think the Floral with Bird quite beautiful. Very striking effect. The natural parts of the first are quite good and in interesting color. The green space people are take or leave it but exactly the sort of work I did when young too. :D

    Beggars

I don't come across them really these days, but when I did I always tried to give something. I didn't care if they were scammers. That was between them and God.

    Hiya, I'm Ponka!!

Frogs are nice. I am mainly a Chihuahua person these days but due to wife and daughter and daughters friend have sort of inherited quite a few birds, and one miniature African Frog. I actually became quite attached to the frog and interacted with it every day and learned to care for it fairly...

Any other Christians struggle with this?

Complicated subject. But I really doubt the idea that autistics follow religion less then the general population. There has been a very sizable amount of people here being part of a religion. Sometimes it has seemed that it is even more then what you see in general population. In just my own...

How to avoid an old "friend" (bully) from the 70's

High School reunions are weird things. A gathering of people who may have not even liked each other X years later. Makes no sense and sometimes its just an opportunity for some to try and show off with 'Look how successful I am'. Your 'old friend' sounds like he may be that type and is just...

    my bird commited suicide

I like the cage outside idea. The birds chances are affected by your location. Over the years 3-5 species of parrots have established populations in the US. These are generally in warm spots like southern Texas, Florida and Southern California. But if I remember correctly there is an oddball...

    Hola - Introduction

HI, yeah it can be hard to just write something. It's a lot like chatting, which we generally struggle with. Cats are nice. My only pet as a child was a stray cat I secretly started feeding and who eventually my parents allowed me to take in. Didn't have any during my military career but...

    The smell of ants

Yes, they definately do. Smell is their main form of communication and they have numerous glands that produce various chemicals. The only one I could detect was the formic acid they secrete in a spray form as a weapon when threatened. I had a few ant farms but don't remember if you could...

    New to the ASD Discussion

Sounds like you are on the right track. Definately relate to the special interests and family having difficulty understanding our emotional landscape and not taking it personally. In my case it helped indirectly that my son is like an exact copy behaviorally with his own personality and...
