    Hello, Please don't fear math. My undergraduate minor was in math and I went on to study group theory whilst studying molecular spectroscopy. Math and music seem to go together. I prefer music!

    As a scientist/musician I find it pretty easy to get away with rhythmically using hands or feet, whistling and humming and having it regarded as a musician's habit as opposed to stimming.

    You are doing just the right thing. Those of us who are on spectrum need good habits which are reinforced by regular repetition. You may be instilling things which will become part of his routine. Be sure to smile and praise him as he does his work. Be patient.

    as a lifelong professional and amateur musician with fairly catholic tastes the style of screaming into a mike at high volume makes me crazy. This unfortunately is a dominate style even with otherwise good voices.

    What do you do to clear your head?

    anything can help that brings order or inner peace. For me it could be washing dishes, working on a Bach partita on my piano, soaking in a hot tub, spreading love with my therapy dog or just finding a reason to smile
