Differences between male and female aspies

As I read through the lists, I found that I identified with a majority of the items. I was diagnosed at 22, looking back at my childhood I can't understand why they (medical/psychological professionals) didn't suspect something sooner. Oh well, I know that I'm an Aspie now and wouldn't change...

    Surviving uni/college with AS?

I have had mixed success in higher education. It got better once I learned that I could get accomodations for my "disability". I get extra time during exams, a separate private room for exams, get to listen to my mp3 player during testing and I can leave class without question if needed. This...

    Tournament day 7/20/13

:balanced:Today I competed in a Tae Kwon Do tournament. I placed 1st in sparring, and 2nd in forms. :) It is the first time I have placed first in competition. I had to leave the gym several times due to over stimulation, but all in all a good day.:ninja:

Do you do the Aspie Stare?

I have always been able to fake a believable smile for pictures, but I still do like having my picture taken. I have pics from my early years and the smiles are so natural, now they are forced. :/

    What are your stims?

I had never really ever thought much about my stims until reading this thread. Now I realize how many stims I actually have: ?drawing shapes on the surfaces of tables with my finger ?Bouncing my leg ?making noises Ex: tongue clicking ?rubbing fabric or playing with my cat's fur ?play...

    Over-talking?

I also have certain people give me a agreed upon signal so I know when to "shut up".

    Over-talking?

I have the same issue. Even when I was young (my nickname was "motor mouth") I would start talking about something and have to be told to stop. I still have difficulty especially when it's a topic of extreme interest. I just have to try hard to keep it short.

    Talking to yourself?

I think I have always talked to myself. I often have long running conversations like I'm taking to someone else. I enjoy it. The conversations help me work out thoughts, and it's a form of company when I'm the only one home at the time.

    Hi

hi, I was diagnosed with Aspergers and PDD-NOS at 22. Up until then I was viewed as NT and very intelligent, just "a bit different" if not "odd" sometimes, the diagnoses explained a lot to me about my "differences". I am proud to be who I am
