Question for those who have been "officially diagnosed"

When my husband was diagnosed he saw a psychologist for 4 appointments, filled in some questionnaires, had a bit of a chat and was given his formal diagnosis on the last appointment. I must say though the psychologist told my husband on each visit he had "autistic traits that were quite obvious"...

parent with aspergers looking for positive parenting examples

My husband is an aspie and we have three ASD Children and he has been an amazing dad. Don't get me wrong it hasn't been all plain sailing, far from it. But with his analytical mind and the need for routine we have kept them aiming for the right things. Emotionally he struggles but as far as...

    Anyone very interested in singing?

My son and daughter both love singing. My son so much so he will sing in front of anyone. He informed me the other day he got paid for doing the thing he loves best, when I asked what that was, he replied singing of course. How did he get paid. HE ONLY PUT A MCD's CUP DOWN AND SANG IN FRONT OF...

Does anyone else have issues breathing in public, or is it just irrational?

My daughter has the same thing. Not only does she seem to forget to breath, she also says she feels like she's forgotten how to do it. Her bothers and dad are on the spectrum and now she's getting older I have concerns over her also xxx I do think it may be anxiety caused by living in a house...

    Wisdom teeth

My son had four of his teeth out in one day, he did brilliantly. I didn't though as I didn't prepare him correctly, I told him it would be four injections when in fact it was 12 ( 3 for each tooth) he wouldn't go numb. He said I had lied to him. I know now to be more careful in future.

    Wisdom teeth

Hey, I don't see why here wouldn't be appropriate. You went through a big deal having your wisdom teeth out, as well as having the general anaesthetic. It's a very odd feeling but something to maybe put a smile on your face...most people react very differently when they are coming round and say...

    Autism-Friendly businesses/public places?

My 14 year old drives people mad at the cinema with his over excited laugh and whooping at the good bits. He actually mentioned going to an Autism friendly showing, until he thought about it then asked if everyone else there would be clapping and whooping throughout cos if that was the case he...

    Blame

Oh Random, but I get ya. I must admit I think if I had a stick some legs would get it :) Knowing what we should do and doing what we should do are two different things. My husband has just gone through diagnosis, he has read everything there is to read watched videos explaining what to do and...

    Blame

Thank you guys so much for taking the time to reply. My head is in pieces, it has ALWAYS happened so why am I feeling it more now I know the cause? I have been with my hubby since I was 16 and I'm the grand old age of 40 now so I am used to his behaviour. By that I don't mean bad behaviour...

    Blame

My husband has AS and 2 of my sons and the blame game is a nightmare in our house, I don't know how to deal with it. Let me give you and example and see if anyone can help. Dinner time today a minor disagreement took place, my eldest son tried to get "what he meant" over to us about five or six...

    New and unsure

And thanks for the welcome. Can I ask you a question? ..... Well I will and hope you answer. Do you purposefully ignore people or conversations just because you can't be ars**d or do you genuinely not realise you have drifted off. If you drift off I suppose, I'm assuming everyone with aspergers...
