Is it just me who get distressed by a certain 'tone' of voice?

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about! Sometimes my mom will say my name in a certain way or want to talk to me and the tone of her voice will make me think "Uh-oh" and immediately I begin to panic.

    What are your sensory issues?

My sensory issues are mainly sound related, but also touch. I can't handle the feel of certain fabrics and I don't like having to touch/hug people.

I've spent a lot of my life with depression, but luckily I no longer have it now. That's only because of medication.

How well-lit do you like your house/room to be?

I seem to be the only person who picked dark so far lol. I love the dark. The light makes me anxious & can even give me headaches.

Is Asperger's syndrome distinct from High functioning autism, true or false?

From all I've read, the only difference I've seen is that apparently, people with HFA don't start to talk until 3+ while people with Asperger's apparently start talking at normal ages or even sooner. So, personally, I don't see a difference between the two because I don't think the age that...

    Problems with articulation

It's very hard for me to speak to people. I tend to stumble & mumble over my words & sometimes my mind goes blank & I can't find any words to say at all. That's why I like writing so much: it gives me a much easier & better way to express myself accurately.

Asperger's - Perfect vision + Perfect Hearing - Sensory Issues

Just in my own particular case, I'd have to completely disagree. I have horrible vision. I've been wearing glasses since right after I turned 7 years old & my vision just gets worse & worse all the time. But I still have a lot of visual sensory issues, specifically involving lights (sun...

Do you have any disorders that are linked with Asperger's Syndrome?

Re: Do you have any disorders that are linked with asperger's? I think my social anxiety is attributed to Asperger's/an ASD. Also maybe depression & problems with moods because I've read that some people on the spectrum have problems controlling their moods/tempers, etc.

    What are your sensory issues?

My sensory issues are mainly auditory, but also visual & touch-oriented. Unexpected noises of any kind send me into panic mode, especially loud noises like motorcycles. Also, doors slamming, people yelling or talking way too loudly. Visually, fluorescent lights give me horrible migraines & even...

    What are your sleep problems?

I have extreme insomnia at times & the only way I can get to sleep most of the time is by taking benadryl (dyphenhydramine hydrochloride-- an anti-allergy medicine). but at times, even with taking it, I go two to three days with no sleep. Once I fall asleep, I can usually stay asleep unless an...
