Is there enough awareness of Aspergers/Autism?

Re: Is there enough awareness of AS/Autism? Well, there certainly is a lot of awareness out there, but a lot of it was negative. The other day i was listening to some guys who don't know me well enough to know i have asperger's, and they were sharing their stories about family...

What do you think of this?

(Hi people, this is my first thread, so go easy on it :) ) I was criusing the internet a couple of days ago, on yahoo answers, when I found this link: Can people with Asperger's Syndrome have normal emotions? - Yahoo! Answers click on the link above, and see what you think of it...

Is it normal for teenagers with autism not to want friends?

I absolutely agree with everybody here. I am currently at high-school, and to be honest, most people just don't interest me. And the people who may remotely seem appealing hate me... All in all, I have come to just amuse myself, friends are an afterthought. They take up time, energy and I am...

are we remnants of something ancient?

Really, people, i am rather worried about what is being discussed here! You do realize, of course, that if NTs are allowed to 'weed' out undesirable gentic traits, then we aspies and autistic people will be one of the first groups to go! As much as i hate to say it, it's true. The vast majority...

    Do you prefer Night? Darkness?

I'm pretty much exactly the same. I abhor Summer. I love winter and Autumn. And, of course, I prefer the night to the day. My eyes can't handle over bright sunlight very well, so night is easier on my eyes, and also, i like the moon better than the sun.

    what is your stim?

I used to EAT my pens. I don't mean just chewing them. I would chew them until they were little bits of plastic, and then i start even biting the ink tube. Eventually quite a few pens exploded and put ink all other my lips, and nobody lets me near pens anymore:) I also roll and flex the muscles...

    Who Hates Math?

Maths was my worst subject from prep to year seven, gok in year eight and horrible afterwards. I think it really depends on who your teacher is. That's how it worked for me.

    Do you read?

I read rather compulsively. Well, maybe a bit more than 'rather.' Reading is my escape from the pressures of life. My favourite book after the Bible is The Silmarrilion by J.J.R.Tolkien:)

what imagination/thoughts do you think about?

Usually to pass time i imagine stuff about my personal little world which started as a paracosm when i was in year six at primary school. It's called 'Ilothmus'. Recently i have started a wiki about it, which you can find at <http://ilothmus.wikia.com/wiki/Ilothmus_Wiki> The wiki dosn't yet...

    Who Hates Math?

I'm okay at maths in terms of skill, but i absolutely loath having to do it. My maths exams are always my worst, being in the 80% range. Certain areas, i.e. area, pi, i'm quite good at and can handle, but anything else i hate and don't try hard at all. Personally, I'm more of an english person.

How do you see the world in your eyes?

I see the natural world as an amazing place giving by God. I also see beauty in the man-made world, in the form of architecture. People, however, I usually find to be treacherous and full of hidden agendas. I also totally agree with the above post that states each place is like its own world...

Do you do the Aspie Stare?

Yes! I just can't smile in photos if my life depended on it! People are always telling me that i look so serious in photos, even when I think i'm trying to smile. It can be really annoying, having to take photos heaps of times over just so people can get one where I'm smiling "properly."

    Just found this.

I totally agree with DeltaVee. Knowing your different isn't actually a bad thing. I don't know if others would feel the same, but despite the fact I absolutely hate AS sometimes, I don't think I would ever get rid of it if I had the chance.
