What to do as indenpendent contractor, US?

My husband works in a local company that does hire foreign independent contractors, but they pay $100/hr :-) Not likely in the US. But it is settled now, to my satisfaction, and here is what I did: I was given the link www.glassdoor.com by a friend. It is a US job database where people can...

What to do as indenpendent contractor, US?

Yes, my wages is a topic for negotiations. It is not settled, probably in part because they would not be able to get anyone else with my exact qualifications (years of experience with their games as well as a background in marketing, customer service, etc.). But if I come considerably more...

What to do as indenpendent contractor, US?

We have huge taxes in Denmark, 25% VAT and all so I can't possibly compare. I have done a bit of freelance work in my own country and you are right about the income needing to be higher than if I was employed. Right now I go for figuring out what I should be asking if I lived in the US, not...

What to do as indenpendent contractor, US?

It will be part time and I have nothing to go on from their side. They will not find another with my exact qualifications which is exactly what they need. But I also need them :-) It is as part of my research I post here. I am Danish, live in Denmark, will be still living in Denmark and I have...

What to do as indenpendent contractor, US?

Hi, I haven't been around this forum in a long time. Mostly I need to occupy myself with something not related to autism when I have a short break from handling things at home. But now I have been offered not only my first real job in 10 years but my ideal job. I get to work from home...

    Daughter got her diagnosis

I have been off this forum for a long time. Mostly when I have a bit a free time, I've needed to not deal with autism. My daughter, Ida, is now 12 yrs old. We were in the children's hospital for 5 months and was released in early October. By then she could walk and talk again. But even now she...

    Cleaning

Me! I need my space as tidy as possible and I HATE cleaning. I've paid for cleaners for years.

    Autism and micro seizures

Thank you! Found that one too. Plus have one real life story. We'll see if the doctors thinks it relevant.

    Autism and micro seizures

Someone in my network pointed out the combination of autism and micro seizure can cause regression of the kind I've experienced with my 11 year old daughter. Anyone have any knowledge / information about this?

    Lurker's Intro :)

No, getting a diagnosis is not going to change who you are. It might be the way to understand yourself better, though. And even to get some training in handling some of your challenges.

    I feel like a fraud

Keep in mind that there are more versions of being on the spectrum than aspie. When my daughter was being examined I could answer almost all the questions with 'that's just like me!' and she is being diagnosed with PDD-NOS. I was told the difference from Asperger's is she has better social...

    Lurker's Intro :)

Much sounds familiar :-) I'm 52 and am usually judged to be at least 10 years younger. I have been looking younger than my actual age since my late 20'ies but it keeps getting better. I actively decided not to have very many friends. Casual talk bore me. I need to be on one-on-one with people...

    Lurker's Intro :)

Welcome! From another mom who found her way here and on the spectrum through one of her children :-) I'm hospitalized at the children's psychiatric ward with my 11 yr old daughter, who turns out to be on the spectrum and should end up with a PDD-NOS diagnosis. Her brother and dad most likely...

High functioning but mild or more severe ASD

As far as I know the Asperger's diagnosis always imply you are high functioning. To the best of my knowledge, Asperger's means you had a normal or better than normal language development and was able to function well in your early years.

Not Into Drinking, Smoking And Drugs

I don't like losing control. I did have a couple of years of party drinking and didn't like the hang overs either. Stopped when I had children. Never felt like smoking and under no circumstances feel like taking drugs.
