Women diagnosed with autism in middle age from Massachusetts: who do you trust for evaluation?

Many thanks to Aryana and Alexej! Regarding Aryana’s question, I live in Central mass. My sincerest apologies for not replying to you in a timely fashion. I had a lot of overwhelm going on. After many calls, emails and one failed attempt, I was able to locate a practice I felt comfortable...

    Seeking an Evaluation in MA

Hi everyone, I’m seeking advice on how to get a thorough evaluation following a brief test by my psychiatrist. I have insurance, have been in touch with them and they have told me I can also be reimbursed to a significant extent if I go out of network. Does anyone have recommendations for...

Newly diagnosed and it explains so much!

I’m vacillating between that as well! I really want to fix it and fear the best I can do is accept and continue to develop work-arounds, just with more information. I’m seeking a more in-depth evaluation that will identify my strengths and weaknesses and possibly seek assistance with what I...

Newly diagnosed and it explains so much!

That’s what I’m thinking. I’ve spent my lifetime eating a heart healthy diet and exercising almost everyday. I’m a weight described by the powers that be as healthy yet I also have all the conditions you mentioned so my heart is not as healthy as it should be. The only thing I’m not doing for it...

Newly diagnosed and it explains so much!

I can completely relate to how much it gets harder over the years. When I was younger I knew folks thought I was weird but bullying forced me to learn to mask in order to stay a little safer and due to the chance variables, “looking normal” and meeting another neurodivergent adolescent who...

Newly diagnosed and it explains so much!

Hi VictorR, Thank you so much for your supportive words. They’ve given me a lot to think about and I’m concluding that I’m trying too hard, which is something I have control over and that feels good though it will require a different type of masking . The good thing is not trying so hard should...

@Tom, I completely relate to that strategy. I find the boundary/offense challenging as well.

Newly diagnosed and it explains so much!

@WhitewaterWoman and@SusanLR. I’m definitely trying. Something that helps sometimes is deep breathing and focusing on where I am and what I’m doing rather than the others. I’ve had moderate success with that. Thank you!
