I'll bet they wish they could have voted on that 3 days ago. ;-)

The Time Change and Those on the Spectrum

I believe almost EVERYBODY hates DST, not just people on the spectrum. The woman I babysit for was just saying last night how much she hates it. I think they should just make the whole year back and hour (or do I mean forward an hour?) so that it stays light out later all the time.

The time has come to admit Jesus wasn't white!

Wow! Sidd851, are you sure of this? Can you recommend a book or two that might be a good starter book to study this? I should NOT be taking on more right now, but this is pretty fascinating. I'm a Christian - now a Unitarian Universalist, which is a religion that is very open to all views...

The time has come to admit Jesus wasn't white!

I don't believe Jesus hated rich people. I believe he was angry at hypocritical religious leaders and also at those whose greed led them to be hurtful towards others (that might have included tax collectors). He did require that his followers give up everything, but I don't believe that was out...

Increase in autistic behaviours after diagnosis?

I'm not yet diagnosed, but when I learned about this only weeks ago, I finally understood so many of my behaviors! As a result, I may have gone a bit too far in allowing them. Not stimming, but mostly pushing myself to do things I didn't want to do (housework and some other things). Instead of...

The time has come to admit Jesus wasn't white!

The former minister of my UU church (very liberal and open to atheists and agnostics) said that some historians believe Jesus was a composite of several figures. I believe there are historical accounts of his existence. I believe that Jesus is an important figure because of the teachings of...

    Misinformation (I believe) about autism/Asperger's

To be fair, Shamar, I later realized that it was written in 2009. But it did seem like someone just wrote about her personal experiences without bothering to do sufficient research.

    Misinformation (I believe) about autism/Asperger's

Yeah, lots of people on the spectrum have above average intelligence.

    Misinformation (I believe) about autism/Asperger's

I didn't realize that there were two other replies when I posted that. Also, this system usually quotes the thing I'm replying to, so I don't get why it didn't this time. I was replying to you saying that you saw those statements on the internet (about autistic people being violent and...

    Misinformation (I believe) about autism/Asperger's

Most of us in favor of gun control are not in favor of banning guns. I don't want this to turn into a political debate, so I'll just say that there are too many people attributing extreme views to large groups of people when in fact, there will always be some people at one or the other extreme...

    Ugh, that is infuriating!

    Misinformation (I believe) about autism/Asperger's

Joshua, where did you hear these crazy ideas? The first one in particular seems ridiculous and out of the blue, and so does the third. As for being "too emotional," the idea that someone can be too anything not dangerous is subjective.

    Misinformation (I believe) about autism/Asperger's

Oh yes. Had I known before I started college, I sure wouldn't have majored in music! Well - if I also had the support I needed. Over the decades, when I made a blunder I would not have felt so ashamed, because I would at least know there was a neurological reason. I'd feel regret, but I wouldn't...

    Misinformation (I believe) about autism/Asperger's

Yeah, I'm high functioning enough to have never known I had this until this month. But it explains so many of the difficulties in my life. So I know high functioning doesn't mean that there are no problems!
