Why You Should Not Run From a Dog

Why you should not run from a dog if you are afraid of it

Speed of average medium-size or large dog: 30 mph
Speed of average adult female human: 12 mph
Speed of average adult male human: 15 mph
Speed of Shih Tzu: 6-12 mph

In addition, seeing you running, will make a dog instinctively want to run after you. If the dog is aggressive, this increases his predatory feelings, and therefore the danger. If the dog is friendly, he/she will remain friendly, but still chase, and you will cause yourself unnecessary panic.

So don't run from a dog. Unless it's a Shih Tzu.

:p...plus it's even more embarrassing to get chased down and bit by a little dog. Ouch!:dog:

As a kid I loved to run from five little Yorkies from the same litter all at once.

Such fun. Lots of barking- and licking. Just no biting.
