Food I: Lunch

  1. I usually eat the lunch provided at work on weekdays.
    This is convenient and good for several reasons.
    Firstly, it helps me to keep a more varied diet than the one I would have if I prepared my own lunch every day.
    Secondly, I don't have to waste even more energy after work by cooking something. Though I could cook some more in advance, so it lasts for several days.
    I do this on weekends. I only cook once and eat some of it on Saturday and some of it on Sunday.

    As I eat more varied most of the week I can "afford" to eat the same lunch almost every weekend without risking a too one-sided diet.
    There are basically only three different meals I make for lunch:
    1. Rice with yoghurt and cheese
      I cook the rice, let it cool down for a while and then I add some yoghurt and cheese.
      I like this because I prefer to eat meals that aren't too hot anyway, so adding the cool yoghurt from the fridge is great.
    2. Rice skillet with vegetables
      I cook the rice in a pan and add some vegetables. I usually use bell pepper, canned corn and mushrooms. Optionally, I add an egg at the end. I just beat the raw egg, pour the liquid in the pan and let it coagulate.
    3. Pasta with sauce
      I usually make either a white sauce or tomato sauce for my pasta. I sometimes add cheese as well.
    The second recipe takes the most effort, so I cook this meal rather infrequently. I almost only cook it when I have several days off of work, so I have more time and energy. This way I can also use more of the vegetables because I cook lunch for four days at once, for example. Therefore, I don't have as much leftover canned corn etc.

    Despite not being a vegetarian, I rarely ever add meat in my cooked meals because I don't really like handling raw meat.
    I also use only little seasoning.
