First blog! OK, so I went with my Mum to the industrial estate near where we live to practice stopping and starting the car, seeing as I'll be 17 in November and I want to get in as much practice as I can before I start taking driving lessons. I didn't get off to a very good start, what with making the car jump and almost crashing into a wall! But I persevered, and Mum was great, bless her, and within half an hour I was driving around the car park! I know I've still got a lot to learn but I got a real buzz out of it and I'm really looking forward to going again. Admittedly I am quite nervous about starting driving lessons but I'm learning the road signs and I intend to keep practicing, because the more I practice the more confident I'll become, and maybe then taking the car out onto the road won't seem so daunting. I've always wanted to drive, ever since I was little, and would be over the moon if I passed my test, but until then I think I ought to concentrate on keeping the car in one piece!

Good luck.

Driving can be daunting at first, but you'll become comfortable in no time.

Your blog post's title reminded me of this Depeche Mode song:

Good luck! I've had my driver's license for a year and still think I'm learning (especially off freeways - most of my driving has been on them), but as you practice, things you have to think hard about now (signs, accelerator control, etc.) will become second nature.

Thank you both for your support. :) Good song too.

I've had some more practice over the last few days and my clutch control is getting better. I'm not so scared of the accelerator now either. I made a few mistakes yesterday but I'm not giving up. It would be silly to give up on something I've always wanted.
