Bullies II

Another way to render my bullies insignificant in my perspective, is to evaluate their intelligence. Based on their behaviour. Yes, this is a good thing.

Obviously, someone who can only make themselves feel good about themselves by putting someone else down has the intellectual capacity of bread. Thinking like this helps psychologically, because it means the bullies were worthless individuals to begin with. For children? well, they may "just" be obeying their social instincts, but with parents who aren't smart enough to teach them how civilised people solve problems, they themselves can't have terribly high IQ.

I do this with adult bullies, too. Being rude once may be just having a bad day, but more than that and my opinion of them will start falling. They are children, they are too stupid to have matured to the level of their own age, too childish to behave like adults. They are ignore-worthy. In the end they'll move on to a target that actually reacts, or give it up altogether.

Comments

I didn't mean to imply that they bully because of low self-esteem. I think self-esteem is overrated. I meant to say that bullying is a mark of stupidity – insensitivity, lack of empathy.

Racism never made sense, but as you say, just like with all harassment, it is just the blind adherence to primate instincts.
