Has anyone had experience with this? I'm starting OT (occupational therapy) for the SPD part of my ASD.
The Wilbarger brushing uses plastic surgical brushes like these..
in a pattern on areas of the body
and it's done as well as joint compressions (which feel REALLY good! ) all over the body...
the brushing and joint compressions are done every two hours (!) at the start.
The Wilbarger brushing is to help with tactile hypersensitivity.
The joint compressions provide deep pressure & proprioceptive sensory input for the brain.
Usually, a parent does these things for a child. I'm middle-aged, and live alone, so I'll be applying this protocol on myself (to the best of my ability). I don't know how successful this will be for mature adults living solo.
Has anyone experienced this type of therapy?
