Sounds like some people need to take a chill pill. Nothing wrong with any of that. There's a limited amount of good US animation going on but I do love my anime. Most of the anime bloggers I know are all adults and some are as old as I am. They're into games and collecting stuff. Anime bloggers are a very friendly sort. I used to blog about anime myself but I'm suffering from blogging burnout.

When I moved to LA, I went to a psychologist for therapy. Most of what she had me doing was not useful. She was trying to get me to express my "pent up anger" at my parents. I'd let go of all that so while it was fun to whack the sofa with a bataka and yell at them, it didn't do anything to help resolve my "problem." Which was, after all, Asperger's and not childhood trauma.

She did teach me one thing that stuck and that is the importance of keeping one's inner child alive and happy in a world that doesn't have much use for such a thing. So if I break into a little song and start skipping down the sidewalk and some people don't like it, that's their problem. Not mine.

Those things aren’t shameful.

Accepting and loving yourself are really key parts of life. One of the ways to do that is to not judge yourself. You may like certain things, but that doesn’t require a judgment. It just ‘is’, you know?

I don’t say this from a place of not having odd interests, either. I’m hella kinky (in a way that goes beyond conventional ‘kink’) and into xenomorph (I don’t recommend you Google it). Do I have shame about those things? No. Did I used to? Yes indeed.

Society tells us what is ‘wrong’. If we’re unlucky, it tells us that we’re ‘wrong’.

It’s society that is wrong, though. What you like is just what you like. It’s part of you, and that’s OK. You are completely fine how you are. All you have to do is believe it.

I like to go on long naked hikes in the backcountry. When I mentioned that (on World Naked Hiking Day) I got an insane amount of blowback on a couple of hiking forums, mostly Reddit. One guy, in particular, claiming to be a deputy called me a sex criminal and hoped I'd be caught and arrested. I'd spend the rest of my life ashamed and in prison and my family would all reject and hate me.

I think "LOL!" is the only response appropriate to such. Treat them like a joke if you respond at all. Then decide if you just want to block the people involved or abandon the forum altogether.

He was so over the top, I had to laugh. Everyone knows this about me. It isn't illegal where I live. I blog about it all the time. People who haunt the remote wild generally aren't so easily offended. I still take care thru time and place not to run into anyone.

There are now a couple of forums I simply do not go to anymore because they are infested with such trolls. These are people who will troll you with the intent of hurting you if they can. At the very least, they want to get you worked up in a fruitless argument over a meaningless topic. It gives them a sense of power and superiority. Nobody will call them on this because nobody else wants to be harassed that way. Or maybe they feel it is your job to take care of yourself and that they are not their brother's keeper.

It is no different than a physical bully in school. Unless there is a moderator, there's no downside for them. Forums like this are safe because there are moderators who will take action if someone gets abusive.

I know a single handed sailor who only "dresses for sucess" if going into town. He swims our bay and strolls the beaches just as he is. No one moored in the bay, therefore closest to his boat and subject to all he is, cares. But someone, probably from the houses half a mile away, complained to the Marines (Mexican navy / coast guards) and a nice offial paid a visit to his boat to tell him to cover up. I really don't care for busy bodies. Whomever complained would have had to use binoculars to see his state of undress. Which beggars the question, who is policing the perping toms? <thats "peeping toms" but the typo is so good I have to leave it>
