Very Annoying Pop-up Ads

I thought it was my browser, Sportster, same thing has been happening to me. Don't know if it's related to using firefox or not, or this site. Have spent the latter part of three hours today thinking it was a browser hijacker, and looking to repair it. Have to say that if someone is tacking on advertising for this site, as a VIP member I'm done coming here. With three ad blockers of different types that can't prevent it.

Like others I spent time thinking my system had been compromised in some way. Wasted some time doing numerous security checks to make sure the problem wasn't on my end or with any other domain than this one.

Obnoxious popups of this type require extra scrutiny to rule out malicious activities. Suddenly it feels uncomfortable just to access this domain.

This could be a deal-breaker for me as well.

Had to do a cold start, today was the first day I had a full page pop up screen mirroring this site when I visited here, a football ad full page, a casino full page and a pop up page from amazon. I reconfigured my entire browser and completely scanned my system for malicious software, I reinstalled everything, nothing was found. These ads are only generated when I come here, nowhere else.

I think that if your going to do pop ups, for the site, it might be a good idea to let members know about it. I spent a great deal of time attempting to fix this today.

Just checked ad aware, each time I come to this site: It changes the popup blocker, and turn its off. I just reinitialized it.

This is the list from ad aware: Click on the icon Sportster it will list what its doing:

Block tracking on
Block pop ups off
Force secure connection on
Block dangerous sites on

It 'froze' the controls so that when I left the site they were accessible again.

When a company host a site with ads, it hard to control what ads appear since the advertising company decides on the ads.

However, since the current ad provider creating ads that could cause harm to someones computer, it is recommended to find a new ad provider that does not do this type of non sense.

I can't seem to copy from the ad aware blocker I'll try a screen shot.

Yeah, if these ads keep happening, I won't be able to continue accessing this site. It actually made my mom's computer start chugging a little, and my brother created this thing to specifically not do that. This is upsetting. I chose this forum because it DIDN'T have the pop-ups as badly as other sites!

It's apparent that certain types of sites generate pop ups that are acceptable to my ad blocker. They seem to turn off that option at Yahoo, the CBC and several other news sites I just tested out. AC is not the only one that does this, and I have to turn on the pop up blocker once I'm on the site. If I have to deal with these ads, I won't be coming back to this site. For me this is absolutely not acceptable.

It was happening to me yesterday on Chrome too. I went into Settings and saw that all pop-ups were blocked. I then downloaded AdwCleaner and it picked up a few things and got rid of them. I hope I don't have to run it every time I open this site!

I don't know if it is any use at all for me to say
that I experienced none of this on any day.

Sometimes knowing what doesn't happen is as
important as knowing what does.

I haven't had this problem either mind you I do have very strict settings for my computer.

You're both VIP members, you paid not to see the adverts. Nothing to do with settings ;)

I get that. But even when I'm not signed in, I don't have the issue. Mind you I have things installed to prevent these events from happening.

Another day recently even paid VIP members
saw ads, so it was useful to remark on that.
And equally useful to tell Brent when that
effect was over.
