two birds (a poem)

Two birds, alone, on a wire did sit
Like notes, on a staff, and I wondered a bit
what melody, it ought, in man to inspire,
That began with two birds, alone, on a wire.

That is so good! Did you write that yourself? I just love it. It reminds me of this (which I did not write):
In the morning when the sun
Is shining down on everyone
How strange to see a daytime moon
Floating like a pale baloon
Over house and barn and tree
Without one star for company

We memorized that from a chidren's poetry book illustrated by Eloise Wilkin.

I'm not the first person to think of birds on a wire looking like musical notes. My Mom thought of it when she was younger, and the idea played a part in a PBS commercial once. But as far as I know I'm the first to put it in a poem.
I love rythmn (but can never spell it :P). You can always tap your toes to my poems. and I rhyme most of the time. Both of which are out of fashion these days. But I do what I like.
