Transforming a Miserable Day

Today one lad in the spectrum was in a miserable mood. He began complaining his mother hates him, he was not going to do anything, and 'everything is terrible'. He then told me 'everybody gets one day to be miserable!' I then asked if I could have my day on Tuesday beginning at 1215 and that I want to scowl and stick my tongue out at people and lie around and do nothing. He began to laugh and from there I was able to move towards more positive dialogue. He later wrote me and said thanks for cheering him up.
