The nonverbal dictionary link
This is a free online dictionary of all things communication especially nonverbal (hence the site name). I dicsovered it last night and I think it's an excellent and intersting site. It has the meanings of certain gestures and also the science behind them (so how your muscles contract when you shrug your shoulders for example) and also the evolutionary significance of a certain gesture and how animals display the similar gestures. It also has meanings of things in pop culture like why little girls find barbie dolls appealing.
I like the site for the science and evolutionary theories of certain cues, I'm not too surprised by the definitions of a lot of them because I know what they look like on TV or when I do them and I know the meanings I just don't spot them so it's still interesting. The one I was surprised by was "palms down" which is a sign of superiority and assertiveness, but I always thought palms down was reassurence.
Anyway that's enough from me, what do you think of it?
