The Concept of Blood

I find blood unsettling. Not in movies or video games, but in real life. Somehow, the wetness of blood seems so different than the mostly dry external experience of having a body.

yup, and most body cells are blood cells.
Considering that + if we ignore the brain for a moment + if we define ourselves based on the number of cells in our body, we could say that "we are" primarily our blood.

Population percentage of various cells in the body.

89.4% Erythrocytes (Red Blood Cells)
6.39% Epithelial and Endothelial
1.69% Fibroblast amd Osteoid
0.937% Adipocyte
0.822% Stem, Germ, and Pericyte
0.481% Neuron and Glial
0.312% Myocyte
