Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show

You know, that one lady we met that one time.

I didn't even realize the Super Bowl was this past Sunday. But I had heard that some of my favorite rappers from my teen years were playing the halftime show, so I watched it for the first time this morning.

I grew up in the Inland Empire, and even though I was into metal, I adored West Coast Rap, and Southern California street culture. I remember baggy Dickies, gold chains, Chicana girls with bangs Aquanetted sky high, harlequin faced, with arched eyebrows and red lips outlined in black.

So although the show was short and corny, and the rappers were now as old as the Superbowl (56), I was jamming along.

I opened up The Babylon Bee (a satire news site) and found an article that was pretty much autobiographical. I showed it to my daughter, whose face turned red with laughter, because it was so spot on:

Children Horrified As 35-Year-Old White Mom Turns Into Gangsta Rapper During Halftime Show

Here is the halftime show. Oh you know I was all about it when I heard the lyrics, and the opening to "California Love"- I play the latter song every time I cruise down the I-5 toward my hometown. Oregon's alright, I guess, but it'll never be as amazing as California.

One thing I’m envious about Americans is this type of spectacle. We have ice hockey but it’s no where near the pomp and ceremony and hype that the Super Bowl seems to be.

We definitely have the “go big or go home” mentality over here. At times, it can be pretty darn wonderful.

I taped the super bowl so I could fast forward through all of the non-football stuff, including the half time show. I did the same thing for all of the playoff games and regular season games that I watched. I tuned in to watch a football game.

I do like that game you Americans call football. You can run head first into a guy and take him down and people are happy about it, you`re not expelled from the game. That`s my kind of game. :) You can`t do that here.
Don’t you have ice hockey too? Can glide head along into people there.

I actually really enjoy watching American football, it’s such an interesting sport that’s like a extreme version of rugby. Don’t get the rules or anything, it’s just fun to watch. But then again, we do have Eurovision....

Who doesn`t like watching two large guys run head first into each other? :) It`s great. We have some hockey but it`s not s big sport here. This country is hooked on cross country skiing, that`s bigger than God here. I started when I was 4 and won my first trophy when I was 12. And that`s pretty normal for Norwegians. Sure American football is fun but this is the best sport: ;)

Aren’t you from Viking lands? Surprised that Ice hockey is not a big thing there. Maybe it’s just Swiss pride or something but it’s an obsession here. Cantons literally have had fights between teams.

I actually attended Super Bowl I, 55 years ago on January 15, 1967 and I cannot remember the half time show at all, just that it was loud.:D
