Strange but True

welcome.webp

Welcome. I've never been married with children, (meant to be funny. lol), but, I felt the same way when I found this forum. It's a great place to communicate with others and finding so many people I relate with. The field of medicine interests me also and was a pharmacist when I worked.
I also like music, science, ( esp. astronomy) and love nature and animals. My collecting obsession is rocks and crystals.

Welcome! I'm a fairly social Aspie, I often wade into crowds for local events of all sorts, usually to take photos, my primary hobby and obsession... I understand that many Aspies do their best not to be in large crowds... Yet I'm also within that a fairly shy and introverted person, a rather curious combination.

I've had a fairly normal life up to now, just trying to understand what a recent self diagnosis means to me.
Hi! Thanks and I could say the same. I'm a mixed bag of traits. One of my best gifts is acting. I don't feel that I'm not being genuine-- it's just that I rarely act or speak without full analysis of what I should be expected to do/say. I feel like I've become a master of 'looking the part'. It's exhausting for me, being in the world. A few wonderful exceptions to this are when I'm with my husband (my best friend for 25 yrs), my own children, and when I am working 1 on 1 with my patients (I'm a health professional). More details maybe another time...

Parenting surely keeps you busy. ;)
What kind of music and reading?
I love alt rock, folk, some pop, vocal jazz, and a liberal sprinkling of lots of other types. I appreciate live music best (my kids playing their instruments, concerts, Karaoke, etc.)
My reading fits mostly into 2 categories: non fiction informative for my work or general interest (facts and tidbits are like gold coins that I collect because they are precious and who wouldn't?!) or romantic fiction/ fantasy (escapism that rests my braino_O).

Oh-- I love rocks and crystals! I can only claim to know a bit about them, but they fascinate me. I have a small collection--mostly from hunting around on trips to AZ--and it has grown more to be my dtr's collection now, as they add special rocks. Right on! I work in health care too. My work life has had some real ups and downs. I'm viewing my career through the lens of AS now, and so many of the real struggles suddenly make sense!
