Statistics on Employment of those with learning disabilities in England

I have just seen this on the BBC news here in the UK, and it is very disappointing to hear that the percentage of people with learning disabilities in England (not the entire UK) has fallen in the past year from 7.1% to 6.0%.

In this context I am not entirely sure as to the exact definition of learning disabilities is.
 
I was going to ask: "Why are you disappointed the percentage of people with a learning disability has fallen?"

But after looking into the article you probably meant; disappointed the number of people employed with a learning disability has dropped from 7.1 to 6%.

Regardless on the definition, it means that 94% of these people are not employed if I'm correct. Which seems to be an absurdly high amount.

Indeed it was meant to read, it is very disappointing to hear that the percentage of people with learning disabilities in England in full time employment (not the entire UK) has fallen in the past year from 7.1% to 6.0%.

Sorry for any confusion or offense caused.

It is very alarming that so few people with learning disabilities are in full time employment and this is getting worse.
 
It's reports like this that make me wonder "what exactly is any government planning to do with this?"

Yes, I know that's an awfully socialist thing for me to say, but meh... it is what it is and compared to the US, most of western Europe seems to be somewhat more socialist. Besides; as long as governments keep complaining about high unemployment rates and I see reports like this I guess it's more along the lines of "either put up or shut up". Aside from the rant how there's just not a job for everyone anymore (for a variety of reasons) I guess it leaves open the issue that as long as any group that can be identified by one thing or another (in this case, learning disability) and the percentage of unemployment in that group is bigger than the percentage of overall unemployment (which in most of Western europe is below 10 percent if I'm correct) there's enough cause for concern here.
 
Wow, that is disappointing. I would have thought slightly more learning disabled people would be employed.
