Something bad happened to me today

Went out to eat with the fam, suddenly I got a bit too excited and let out a yelp maybe a scream, suddenly everyone was looking at me and I fell in to a deep depression I have recovered since then however

I got a bit too excited and let out a yelp maybe a scream,
In an excited way? An agitated one? Something else?
suddenly everyone was looking at me and I fell in to a deep depression
Depression because of being looked at and possibly being thought of as weird or something?

Glad to hear you have recovered. I think that's the really valuable skill - bouncing back from tough things.

i think im going to retreat in to a cave and never see people again everyone hates me or thinks im weird

There isn't a single person in the entire world who hasn't done something "embarrassing" at some point in their life. Hold your head high, don't criticize yourself, and keep on living the best life you can because you are actually just like everyone else!

I guarantee you that every one of those people forgot about you about 10 minutes after this happened.

Don't worry about it.

Maybe just a short break from people will help you reset and keep things in perspective. It's good to notice your feelings, but they don't have to keep you in a cave forever.

Unless someone says the words, "I hate you and I think you are weird," keep in mind that you could be filling in the blanks and guessing at their feelings. We are so often wrong when we do this... and it's most certainly not everyone.

everyone hates me or thinks im weird
That is not true. Your proof it's not true is right here: in every response to you in this thread.

We all want you to stick around and to be proud of who you are. We like having you here and want you to keep talking to us and keep being part of the world.

Lots of people think I'm "weird"...probably most people. But that's okay - to me, "weird" just means different or unfamiliar -- it isn't bad.

Anyone who did hate you just for being "weird", I would not value their judgement of you. It's foolish and mean to hate someone just for being different in some way.

We are all different in some ways -- even the "normal" people; And that's what makes life interesting in positive ways. If we were all exactly the same we'd have nothing to learn from each other and nothing to talk about.

Don't run away from it, own it. Some people have called me "Stark raving crackers," and I'm proud of it. When people say "You're crazy," I say "Thank you." Oftentimes, they get rather disconcerted by this. Great fun.

Resilience is a major tool for getting through life. Good for you.

I thought I had already posted this. Just found it unposted at the bottom of the thread. Sorry!
