Share your experience of being diagnosed with ASD as an adult OR of finding out your partner has ASD

Hello All,
My name is Laura Lewis and I am a nurse and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Vermont. I am looking for individuals who may be willing to participate in a research study about being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as an adult or having a partner diagnosed with ASD as an adult. The diagnosis of ASD may include any of the following: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, high functioning autism, pervasive developmental disorder, or classic autism. The study is entitled, “Realizing a Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder as an Adult: An Individual and Partner Experience.”

I am looking for:

1) Individuals who believe that your partner has ASD. You must have been in a relationship with this person for at least 2 years, but you do not still need to be in a relationship with this person.

OR

2) Individuals who have been diagnosed with an ASD when you were 18 years old or older. You may have been formally tested for ASD or a mental health professional may have told you that you have ASD after meeting with you.

Participation is entirely online and includes answering a few questions about your experience of reaching a diagnosis. It can take as long or short as you like, depending on how much you decide to share, but will likely take about 30 minutes to complete. If you are in a long-term relationship, your partner is also welcome to participate. While your partner’s participation is preferred, it is not required for you to participate.

To find out more or to participate, please use this link: Realizing a Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder as an Adult

Thank you for your consideration!

Laura Lewis, RN, PhD
