  • 'Warlock' pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the District Court in Sydney

A self-proclaimed 'warlock' has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of an autistic boy, 8, who froze to death after he was left strapped to a chair in a garden shed.

The man's plea came more than four years after his step-son was found dead by emergency services personnel in rural New South Wales in the early morning of October 1, 2011.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported the magician handed his 'staff' to a family member before being led to the cells at Downing Centre District Court on Thursday afternoon.

The boy's parents had allegedly attempted to calm the boy down that day by giving him a cold shower and restraining him in the shed, a court reportedly heard.

But when the temperatures dropped dramatically the boy suffered hypothermia and later died in hospital.

Photographic evidence previously tendered in court showed a small heater was located in the same room but he was unable to reach it and turn it on.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported the man had kept an online blog blaming police, the medical system, judges and the government for the boy's death prior to the guilty plea.

The step-father wrote he had 'gone back to magic to protect my family from the evil out there in the world', according to the Fairfax account.

The man's guilty plea was accepted by the court on Thursday afternoon. He will be sentenced on April 29, 2016.
