Hello all!
I wanted to let you know about some of the research going on at Arkansas Children's Hospital for children with autism in case anyone is interested. I know how difficult it can be to locate research studies. Below is a quick explanation of one of the main studies. Recently, a group of researchers led by Dr Frye, the Director of Autism Research at Arkansas Children?s Hospital, have found preliminary evidence that high-doses of folinic acid can improve core symptoms in some children with autism with a relatively low incidence of adverse effects. Now ACH researchers have launched a clinical trial to confirm these findings and determine which subset of children with autism that this intervention may help. Eligible participants will be offered to enroll in a 12-week double-blind placebo controlled clinical trial. At the end of the 12 weeks, those that were in the placebo group will be offered the medication at no charge for 24 weeks in an open-label extension to the trial.
