In my living room I have a dual-recliner instead of a traditional sofa. Directly in front of my widescreen tv. The best thing being the compartments on both sides plus a center console to hide all my remotes.

Regular chairs are nice, but recliners are pretty cool.
I think if I had my ultimate recliner--Morris chair. Designed by the very odd and very colorful Wm. Morris--artist, educator, illustrator, Pre-Raphaelite, partial inventor of the modern fantasy genre, conservationist of nature and old churches and cottages, Victorian proto-socialist (it was part of his aesthetic theory for some reason) and inventor of the recliner. And to give it an American flair, doing it in Craftsman/Mission style would be pretty damn cool and it would look a lot nicer than the rococo stylings of the 1870s. Can't say I'm 100% on board with everything he did but he is himself and I am me--but I think he was a fascinating inventor.
Right now though I have a recliner I really hate because it cramps my elbows and I can't use my laptop to study. So if I'm at my desk, not so great there either as I can't sit for hours (no padding on the chair and there sure ain't no padding on me.)

Recliner all the way, I saw one with built-in speakers and refrigerator. Just slap some wheels and an engine on it and you can drive this thing.

Floor - every time.
I'd pondered a sofa or chair in my van, but instead I'm going for a raised seating area. Storage underneath, but the top side will have cushions and a soft base that can double up as a mattress. It might need to be custom made. Like a majlis, but with an elongated base, so it's bed length.

Writing from my recliner now. I bought my first ever recliner when I stopped spending thousands of dollars on weed. I quickly saved up some money and I bought a recliner that I totally love. I’ve actually been sleeping in it for a few months now, and sleep better there than in my bed.
I get stuck in recliners. They tip back and I'm not able to touch the floor or get enough kinetic energy to tip it forward again. I end up having to climb over the side to get out...thusly, all of our seating is non-tippy.
And after reading a little bit more...this is apparently a morris chair. It belonged to my great grandpa on my mom's mother's side. Grandma refinished it and had it in the corner of her office as long as I can remember. I got it when I moved after I finished my MFA.

Yikes.
Yeah, I know what you mean about that non-tippy factor. With my dual recliner I can't budge it. Even using all my body weight. Never had any furniture that was that heavy.
I actually like a lot of these (even bar stools!) so I chose several <3

I’d include a picture of the seat of my command center, but that would require a lot of time disentangling it from the various display and control assemblies that block it from view, AKA all the junk around my chair.
Spent years with disabling back problems and learned the value of constantly changing position. I’m on my second electric chair, both lazy boys. All angles are adjustable by fingertip.
I spend lots of time in my chair, swinging the tray around for casual typing or eating. By regularly changing positions, I can spend 3 or 4 times as much time in my recliner as in my office chair.
Of course the pivot lamp is at my shoulder. The controller caddy and iPhone charge stand and the stand for the noise canceling headphones. That little ceramic tray perfectly fits my favorite four harmonicas (they don’t like getting pushed onto the floor). The Wine Folly tome is near at hand, as is my gyroscopic wrist exerciser… hardly have to move to get my exercise. Still plenty of room for gaming headphones and controllers.
Only drawback… when you have to get up quickly, the crank down is eternal.

This exact thing happened to me like. Like I said, I have never owned a recliner before and I didn’t actually know they could tip over like that! About the second night that I had mine, I was sitting reading forum stuff one moment and the next moment I was on my back with my legs straight up in the air stuck in my new chair, which had tipped backwards. It was a very soft landing and the chair didn’t break, and once I realized those things it became hilarious. It was quite a struggle getting out.
My grandfather has a recliner and it's very comfortable. Unfortunately I do not have one so I end up just sitting on my floor or my bed.
