Recently got back into video games

I had a playstation and an original xbox growing up but never went any further. I was obsessed with Metal Gear Solid growing up and always wanted to play the other games and that interest peaked when I suddenly bought a ps3 with 5 games and a month later bought a ps vita with even more games.

I've realized I seem to get extremely depressed around December -January every year and have made some pretty devastating life decisions around these times do to those heavy bouts.

I was toying with the idea of quitting school this year and after playing the video games and getting that release I came back to school with a better attitude. I even started practicing more focused, working out more regularly, and I'm back to studying for my cisco certification.

I bought them to purposely play whenever I get depressed and that doesn't seem to work as I just when to sleep when that happens. I don't even really play the ps3 anymore and just play the vita in 15 minute spurts at gigs, riding in a car or waiting for some food to cook.

I'm suprised by how fun it is. What a stress reducer! I did spend quite a bit of money and still had some bad bouts (even yesterday until a few hours ago) but I didn't have any of the 2 week long bouts from the past few years.
Mainly ended up playing old ps one games on the vita! I also like dragon ball z: battle of z, god of war hd, megaman x4.

I remember playing the demo disc for Metal Gear Solid that I rented the game the same day I played the demo disc.

God of War and Megaman are good games as well.

I used to play games when I was getting depression. I'd use it as a distraction to the depression however because I stay distracted for such a long time the problems causing my depression just got worse so I was caught in this vicious cycle, not going anywhere. Just make sure it's not your only method of dealing with depression.
