Ready to meet other Aspies

Hello! I'm Polly and I'm 28 years old. I'm currently waiting on the official diagnosis but I have self diagnosed as being an aspie.

I am very much fascinated with psychology. I have a BA in psychology so it kind of surprises me that I didn't pick up on my symptoms until recently.

I think the most frustrating thing for me is feeling disconnected and left out. I have never been able to form relationships very well but I'm hoping this forum will be of some help. I am really looking forward to meeting new people who share my experiences.

Hi & welcome.
Aspie can sort of creep up on you. One does not automatically think autism. But then one day there it is and it just fits way too well to be coincidence.

Are those classical ruins behind you? Looks Roman. The period about 10BC - 450AD in Europe is a minor special interest of mine. :)

Yes, those are ancient ruins. The phot was taken in front of the Colosseum in Rome. I went with my family a couple weeks ago. Very cool place :)

Hi Polly! Welcome.

I agree about the disconnected feeling, although I am learning to let go of the "obligation to socialize" which was impressed upon me as a younger person. Since I have allowed myself to enjoy my solitude again, and don't feel pressured to be sociable, I don't feel like a failure if I don't fit into a group, but I also seem to fit in more naturally because I think others can sense when one is trying to force social interactions.

That may not be your experience, but I thought I would share it for what it is worth.

Welcome aboard :)
